Chapter 5 You want to have a baby for me?

  • He turned around and left. However, when he was about to walk down the stairs, he said coldly, "Give Chen Lin a call if you want to go to the hospital. Let her send you there."
  • I leaned against the wall, massaging my throbbing stomach. A mournful smile emerged on my face as I gazed at his back.
  • When something happens to Song Meiqian, he rushes to her side. Me, on the other hand, when something happens to me, I could only ask for his secretary.
  • I found the digestives pills at home and took one. The pain in my stomach indeed eased down, but I still spent the whole night being wide awake. I felt like there was now a huge hole torn in my heart and chilly wind gushed through it.
  • What can the two of them be doing?
  • A man and a woman, spending the night together...
  • For that whole night, there was not even a moment that I could calm down. My throat felt like it was blocked, and it was difficult to breathe.
  • The next day, my pain in stomach worsened. I even began to vomit. After I called and asked for a day off, I drove my car to the hospital to get myself examined.
  • Fortunately, it was not serious; it was just acute gastritis. The doctor said I would be fine in two days as long as I took the medicines.
  • "Jinghao, the doctor said Bao's condition has stabilised. Don’t worry anymore and go to work. When the result is out, I'll call you again."
  • Right after I got my medicines, a woman's soft voice chirped behind.
  • Although we had not met for four years, I could still recognize Song Meiqian's voice in an instant. I could not help but clenched the medical report in my hand tightly. Suspicion grew in my heart.
  • Bao? What result?
  • In the next second, I heard Cheng Jinghao answering, "Okay."
  • That deep and familiar voice struck me in my heart. It felt so painful as if countless ants were gnawing on my heart. I did not even have the courage to look back.
  • It should not be like this.
  • I was his wife. In this scenario, they were obviously the ones that should panic.
  • "Jing, Jing... It’s really you!"
  • The moment I was about to leave, Song Meiqian suddenly grabbed my arm looking surprised. She behaved as if we had an intimate relationship.
  • I coldly shook her off and said indifferently, "What’s the matter?"
  • Song Meiqian's hand hung stiffly in the air, but soon after, she linked it to Cheng Jinghao's arms. She bit her lower lip and said, "For the past four years, you've not came back home. We're all worried about you... How have you been?"
  • Ah... Hypocrisy.
  • Previously, it was a pretentious act directed at my father. Now, this pretentious act would be for Cheng Jinghao.
  • After Cheng Jinghao and I got married four years ago, I never returned to the Nings. Our marriage was also only made known to the Chengs.
  • Apparently, Song Meiqian was also completely oblivious to this matter.
  • I looked at them standing next to each other and suppressed the sadness that filled up my heart. I said on purpose, "I've been doing very well. Oh, right, I forgot to tell you guys—I'm married."
  • Song Meiqian was completely shocked, “Married?! To whom?"
  • Just as I was about to answer, a cold and gloomy stare fell on me. It was both a warning and a threat. The meaning in it self-evident.
  • I looked back at Cheng Jinghao's gaze somewhat mockingly. A part of my heart had cooled down. I could only respond lightly, "What's that have to do with you?"
  • Upon saying that, a wave of nausea burst within my stomach. I raised my hands to cover my mouth and suppressed it forcefully.
  • She smiled awkwardly because she could also see I was retching. She took a glance at the medical report in my hand and said in complete astonishment, "Why are you in the hospital? You don’t happen to be pregnant, right?"
  • I automatically looked towards Cheng Jinghao, only to be greeted by his fierce gaze. I hastily stuffed the medical report into my bag and said with a smile, "I still have something on. I'll have to leave first."
  • Without waiting for her response, I quickly walked away anxiously.
  • Yes. I did it on purpose. To make them think that I was pregnant.
  • I wanted to know if I was really pregnant... Would Cheng Jinghao accept it? Would he let me have this child?
  • I was supposed to have a whole day off, but I still drove towards my workplace. Right after I drove onto the main road, Cheng Jinghao called me, "Where are you?"
  • I clenched the steering wheel, "I'm on my way to the office."
  • He was silent, seemed to have something on his mind. A while later, he said coldly, "Come back home. I'm waiting for you at home."
  • Before I could answer, he already hung up.
  • He’s waiting for me at home? This was indeed the first time.
  • I took a deep breath and made a U-turn at a traffic juncture to go back home. Tears suddenly welled up in my eyes.
  • In our four years of marriage, he either stayed out all night or only returned in the middle of the night.
  • It had always been me returning alone to that empty house; it had always been lonely. I used to always be hoping to see him as I open the door, to see his figure at home.
  • But when I knew that he would be waiting for me at home, I was still nervous when I opened the door to our house. I was unsure if he would really be there.
  • It was only when I saw that aloof figure sitting on the sofa, my nerves finally calmed down.
  • I walked over. In my nervousness, both of my hands clenched into fists. The corners of my lips subconsciously curved up. "You're really waiting for me at home..."
  • This was such a normal and even trivial matter between a couple, but my heart was brimming with satisfaction.
  • I even involuntarily forgot about how he abandoned me last night to look for Song Meiqian.
  • "Pass me your bag." He lifted his gaze to look at me and reached towards me.
  • I was stunned for a moment. I hadn’t clearly processed his actions, but I handed my bag to him without hesitation. "What's wrong?" I asked.
  • Instead of answering, he opened my bag immediately and took out the medical report I had stuffed into my bag. His darks eyes became glommy.
  • In an instant, I understood. I wanted to snatch it back, but it was already too late.
  • He sneered, asking in a low voice, "Pregnant and gastritis—you can't differentiate these two words?"
  • I lowered my head, licked my lips and asked earnestly, "Jinghao, I just want to know whether or not you'll let me have the baby if I’m pregnant."
  • His expression looked inexplicable, but he answered without the slightest hesitation, "You won't be pregnant."
  • True, if everything went according to his plan, I would not get pregnant.
  • He wore a condom almost every time we had sex. The rare few times that he didn’t, were on my safe days, such as yesterday.
  • I chuckled and pretended to be nonchalant, "But what if?"
  • He stood up and towered before me. He slightly leaned over and lifted up my chin, forcing me to look him in the eye.
  • His black eyes were just like whirlpools eager to suck people in. His tone was faint and distant, "Ning Jing, do you want to have my baby?"
  • The word "yes" was stuck in my throat and couldn’t be voiced.
  • I could never forget what he said. He said that there would only be money and sex between us.
  • During the period of my silence, his gaze deepened even more. He said lightly, "It couldn’t be that you’re suddenly in love with me, right?"
  • His voice was suffused with incitement. My heartbeat quickened. Even the air seemed to have thinned out.
