Chapter 8 I Am Henry Turner Himself

  • Violet was a little confused. Didn't Danny go out for a walk earlier? In that case, who is this?
  • She stared at the little guy who was happily wolfing down his food in front of her.
  • "You…" She hesitantly took a seat in front of him and took a good look at his face. "You're not Danny, are you?"
  • David was in the middle of stuffing another mouthful of food into his mouth when his hand froze for a moment, and then he raised his crumb-covered face indignantly. "Of course, I am!"
  • She crossed her arms in front of her chest. "Are you his twin younger brother? Or his twin elder brother?"
  • Her memory could not be mistaken. Besides, after her careful study of him, she realized that the little guy in front of her had a completely different temperament compared to Danny.
  • David knew that the cat was out of the bag, so he could only press his lips together in resignation. "Alright, you're right. My name is David Turner. Danny is my elder brother, and Henry Turner is my father."
  • She was stunned by the revelation. "Both you and Danny… are Master Turner's children?"
  • He took a big bite of prawn. "Yeah."
  • At this point, she was reeling from the confusion. Before her marriage, nobody had told her that Henry had a pair of twins. Not to mention… Henry had such a hideous and disfigured appearance. So, how was it that his two sons were so good-looking and adorable?
  • After some time, she glanced at David. "If you and Danny are twins, then why have you been pretending to be him?"
  • She finally understood why Danny always seemed like a different person with a different personality whenever he went upstairs and came down again. It was because they were two different people in the first place!
  • David lowered his head and ate quietly, not daring to answer her question. How could he tell her the truth? After he frightened her so badly that night, he was afraid that she would learn that he was the one behind the prank.
  • Not long afterward, Danny returned from his walk.
  • "Was your cover blown?" He immediately guessed what had happened as soon as he stepped into the house. Then, he took a seat at the table, gracefully picked up a spoon, and started eating. But, at the same time, he didn't hesitate to reward his younger brother with a scornful look. "I told you. You wouldn't last for long."
  • David rolled his eyes at Danny. Then, he swiftly finished the food on his plate and scurried upstairs.
  • Violet frowned. "Does he always eat so little?"
  • "He usually has a good appetite. However, he is feeling shy now that his identity has been exposed," Danny explained calmly. "He is a child, after all, so he is very prideful."
  • She mused silently to herself, You speak as if you're not a child yourself.
  • His movements during dinner were graceful. "From tomorrow onward, David and I will try our best to call you 'Mommy'. Finally, he looked at her with sparkling eyes and continued, "Congratulations, you have obtained two handsome and charming sons. Marry one, get two free." He sincerely and honestly told her, "You've got a great bargain."
  • She was rendered utterly speechless, not knowing how to answer him.
  • The truth was that she had married Henry on an impulse. Both her boyfriend and her best friend had betrayed her. Not to mention, the Walt Family treated her like a servant. They constantly brought up the fact that they had raised her to threaten and manipulate her into doing their bidding. Those were the reasons why she had chosen to marry Henry, but… She never imagined that she would become the mother to a pair of twins!
  • After dinner, Violet resolutely decided to have a serious discussion with Henry. In her opinion, she was too immature to play the role of a stepmother.
  • "Master Turner is slightly busy today. But I understand that you are newlyweds. It's only natural for lovers to stick to each other like glue." Ryan smiled mischievously. "I will contact Master Turner immediately and ask him to come home!"
  • "I'm not…" She stared at the butler's excited back. Is he misunderstanding something?
  • Alas, Ryan had already disappeared from her sight. So, she sank into the sofa and watched a comedy movie while waiting for Henry to come home. The film was hilarious, so her mood gradually improved. That was until… She saw the man from this morning entering the house through the door.
  • Alarm bells immediately started blaring in her heart. "Why are you here again?"
  • Henry will be back soon. So, what is he doing here at this hour? More importantly, why does he have the key to the house?
  • The man in a neatly pressed suit gracefully unbuttoned the cuffs of his suit. At the same time, he asked in a frigid voice, "Let me ask you something. Whose house do you think this is? Why are you here?"
  • She frowned. "This is the house of Henry Turner, and I am his newly-wedded wife. Of course, I have the right to be here." After he said that, she glared at him. "What about you? Who are you?"
  • He casually placed his suit jacket on the coat rack and gave her an indifferent look. "What a coincidence. I happen to be Henry Turner himself."
  • At that moment, a blanket of silence fell over the living room.
  • Violet stared blankly at the man in front of her, who was handsome enough to make her blush. She was so shocked that she could barely process the revelation, and her eyes were filled with utter bewilderment.
  • This man is Henry Turner? That's impossible! I clearly saw him that night! His appearance was hideous and terrifying! It was exactly as the rumors described!
  • Henry could probably guess the thoughts in Violet's head. Elegantly walking into the living room, he offered her an explanation. What you saw the other night was nothing more than David's prank."
  • She remained silent. It was David that night?
  • She stared at the man in front of her, and there was no hiding the surprise in her eyes.
  • She had been too flustered to look at him carefully this morning. But, when she studied his frigid facial features that seemed to consist of sharp lines, she finally understood why Danny and David were so good-looking. It turned out that they had inherited good genes.
  • "So…" She was so shocked that even her voice trembled slightly, "You were not disfigured by the fire five years ago?"
  • It was widely rumored among the upper class of Rockerson that Henry was caught in a fire five years ago. Thanks to that incident, he was disfigured and underwent a considerable change in personality. In fact, she also heard rumors claiming that he had tortured his two previous fiancées to death.
  • On the contrary, the arrogant and cold man standing in front of her was so different from the Henry Turner in the rumors that she could not associate them together whatsoever.
  • Her bewildered gaze made him frown slightly, and he glanced at her coldly. "David mentioned that you prepared dinner for me."
  • The truth was that he initially had a business dinner planned for tonight. However, the two little rascals at home had forced him to come home. Danny had hacked into his computer and emailed his business partners to cancel the dinner in his name. Meanwhile, David had called his father to complain about how he was not cultivating his relationship with his newly wedded wife.
  • As a result, both Ryan and John had incessantly nagged at him to the point where his ears were about to fall off. They also claimed that his newly wedded wife was lovingly preparing dinner for him and waiting for him to come home. That was why he had no choice but to reluctantly come home.
  • Contrary to expectations, he stepped through the door only to learn that the woman who was supposedly head-over-heels for him didn't even know that he was her husband.
  • "Dinner?" She was taken aback for a moment before she hurriedly stood up and headed toward the kitchen. "Haven't you had dinner yet?"
  • Danny had taken the leftover dishes from dinner for David. Hence, she opened the fridge to check what she could make on the spot. When she saw the few ingredients in the refrigerator, she turned back to look at him." Would you like some noodles?"
  • He raised his eyebrows at her. "Did you not prepare dinner for me?"
  • His deep and cold voice carried considerable displeasure.
  • She bit her lip, knowing that he must think of her as a terrible and incompetent wife. She paused momentarily before quickly gathering the necessary ingredients and shyly explained, "I didn't know when you were going to come back for dinner, but I didn't want to give you leftovers. So, I decided to make a separate meal, especially for you." Then, she turned around and smiled at him. "To me, you are different from the others after all."
  • When she smiled, her twinkling eyes turned into tiny crescents, making her seem indescribably adorable.
  • For some reason, his heart skipped a beat at the sight.
  • This woman might have some strange fate with my two sons. After all, she looks just like David when she smiles, as dazzling and breathtaking as a miniature sun.
  • When he laid his gaze on her smiling face, he couldn't bring himself to speak harshly or even voice his displeasure. Hence, he turned around and sat down on the sofa. Then, he turned off the television, picked up his phone, and continued working quietly.
  • Meanwhile, Violet heaved a sigh of relief in the safety of the kitchen.
  • I'm so glad I managed to bluff my way out of this! From tomorrow onward, I'm going to set a reminder on my phone to prepare dinner for Henry!
  • Ten minutes later, she placed a bowl of steaming chicken noodle soup on the table.
  • "Henry, dinner is served."
  • A long time passed after she made her announcement before the cold and aloof man finally stood up. Then, he walked over and took a seat at the dining table.
  • The way he ate was highly graceful. She had never seen a person dine in such an elegant manner before. Hence, she stared at him and unknowingly became entranced with his movements.
  • "Do you like watching me?" The man's deep voice was slow and unhurried as he drawled, "If you like watching me, you can watch me for the rest of your life."
