Chapter 6 Husbands Doing What They Should Do to Their Wives

  • Violet frowned slightly at the adorable child in front of her. Why does this child get hungry so fast?
  • Nevertheless, she did not have time to think too deeply about the matter. Instead, she casually threw on a light jacket and went downstairs to cook for Danny. In her haste, she rolled up her sleeves and revealed her arms that were covered in various wounds.
  • Although Danny was sitting at the dining table, he had a clear sight of her arms. He couldn't help but furrow his brows at the bruises and red welts covering her arms.
  • When she served two identical portions of breakfast at the table, he stared at her fixedly with a pair of doe eyes. His eyes were black, his skin was fair, and his facial features were exquisite.
  • The way he stared at her so seriously was incredibly adorable, and she felt as though her heart was about to melt into a puddle. She bent down and tried to make her voice as gentle as possible. "What's wrong? Dan?"
  • He raised his delicate little hand and pointed at her arms. "You're hurt."
  • After he said that, he leaped off the chair and brought over the first aid kit from the shelf.
  • "No. No, it's fine." She snatched the first aid kit away from him. "I'll do it myself."
  • Only then did he return to his seat. Still, he watched her quietly while eating his breakfast.
  • She opened the first aid kit, but she had to admit that if he had not said anything, she would never have noticed so many bruises over her body.
  • While she applied the medicine to herself, she secretly cursed at the man from last night. She used the ointment indiscriminately on her arms, then displayed her arms proudly as though she was offering up a treasure. "I'm done!"
  • "And your legs."
  • She fell silent. How did he know about the wounds on my legs?
  • At this moment, her phone rang. Hailey's anxious voice came from the other end of the phone. "Violet, shouldn't you return to Silverfilm now that you've finished with your wedding? There are many martial arts films today. Also, the supervisor mentioned that there's a female actress who wants to appoint you by name…"
  • Violet frowned upon hearing that request. "I'll be there immediately."
  • When she had been dating Brock back then, she had wanted to avoid suspicion about their relationship but also wanted to see him every day. Hence, she took Brock's suggestion to become a stuntman at Silverfilm.
  • Martial arts stuntmen earned the highest salary among stuntmen, so she resolutely decided to become a martial arts stuntman. Moreover, as the only female martial arts stuntman at Silverfilm, she was very high in demand.
  • "I'm heading to work!"
  • By the time the words left her mouth, she was already standing at the entrance and looking for her shoes.
  • "You can't go." Danny hurriedly slipped off the chair and ran over to stand in front of the door with his arms stretched out like a tiny eagle. "You're wounded. You need to rest."
  • His voice sounded childlike, but there was also a hint of tyranny and concern in his voice.
  • Her heart softened at the sight. So, she crouched down and ruffled his hair affectionately. "These injuries are nothing to me."
  • As a martial arts stuntman, such injuries were truly nothing.
  • "No!" He gritted his teeth and chewed on his lip. Then, he abruptly stretched out his open palm toward her. "Five minutes. You can leave after five minutes."
  • "Okay." She could afford to wait for five minutes.
  • He breathed a sigh of relief. Then, he sneakily took out his phone, found David's profile picture, and sent out a message to his brother.
  • David, dressed in the same light yellow pajamas as Danny, pushed open the study room's door somewhere upstairs. "Daddy, I need your help!"
  • Time passed slowly as the minutes and the seconds ticked by. Finally, when those five minutes were almost up, Violet put on her shoes and smiled at the young boy in front of her. "Don't forget that we agreed on five minutes. It has been four minutes by now, so there is only one more minute. You can't stop me from going to work after that."
  • Danny nodded seriously. "Okay."
  • With thirty seconds left to their agreed five minutes, her phone suddenly rang, causing her to stop mid-motion.
  • "Violet, there's no need for you to come to work today." Hailey's voice was highly excited. "Silverfilm is on leave today!"
  • Violet was stunned. "On leave?"
  • "That's right!" Hailey explained enviously, "Apparently, somebody powerful doesn't want his wife to go to work today. That's why he instructed all the production crews in Silverfilm to take the day off. Tsk. Tsk. Rich people are so capricious!"
  • Violet gripped her phone blankly. Silverfilm was an extremely efficient place. She had never experienced a single vacation ever since she started working at Silverfilm. Yet, there was now an exception simply because an influential figure wanted his wife to take a day off. It was truly… Capricious.
  • She placed down her phone helplessly, feeling as though she could see banknotes flying away.
  • A trace of delight appeared in Danny's eyes. A short while later, he gave a stern cough and looked at her calmly. "Let's eat."
  • "Okay." Since she could not go to work, she could only listen to him obediently and join him for breakfast.
  • However, Danny did not return to the dining table. Rather, he stuck his hands in his pockets and went upstairs, seemingly nonchalantly. "I have something to do."
  • After he said that, he turned and slowly walked upstairs, taking care not to look as though he was in a hurry to leave. He took several steps forward, then turned back and glanced at the food in front of Violet. "Make sure you finish everything."
  • His statement amused Violet. "You asked me to make you two portions of breakfast, but you only ate one."
  • His tiny figure froze at her remark. He paused briefly before he answered awkwardly, "I'll come down to eat right away."
  • As soon as the words left his mouth, he practically fled upstairs.
  • Not long afterward, David flew downstairs with his hair that had been messed up by his brother. "I came to eat my breakfast!"
  • He rushed over hastily and sat down in front of the dining table. While he ate, he happily praised the food. "It's so delicious!"
  • Violet was dumbfounded. Why does it feel like this child is an entirely different person after going upstairs?
  • In the study upstairs, a cold and dignified man was working in his office.
  • Danny pushed open the door and strode inside. His small figure climbed onto the chair, and then he pushed himself from the chair to the desk. Finally, he sat down gracefully on the desk and slid his phone toward Henry. "Mr. Turner."
  • The cold and dignified man stopped typing on the keyboard and picked up the phone with his long, slender fingers. The screen displayed a photo of a woman's hand covered in bruises and red welts. The following picture showed her bruised legs.
  • Danny crossed his arms in front of his chest with a confrontational expression on his face. "I need an explanation."
  • Henry placed the phone down and crossed his arms in front of his chest. He leaned into the chair and asked in an overbearing and cold voice, "You asked me to marry her. I'm just doing what a husband should do to his wife. Why do I need to explain myself?"
  • "She is under my protection." Danny looked like a miniature version of Henry. He returned Henry's stare without the slightest hint of fear. Although his voice was childlike, he sounded absolutely domineering. "You injured one of mine. Don't you think you owe me an explanation?"
  • The father and son glared at each other with the same posture and the same expression. From an outsider's point of view, it was truly hilarious despite the tense atmosphere in the air. One was sitting on a chair, and the other was sitting on the desk. Soon, the situation fell into a stalemate.
  • "Mr. Turner…" Ryan entered the study. "The acquisition contract for Silverfilm has been signed…"
  • Before he could finish his sentence, two sets of obsidian eyes stared straight at the butler. Then, two voices sounded at the same time.
  • "Get out."
  • "Get out."
  • Ryan fell silent at their behavior. Finally, he glanced weakly between the father and son, who had their metaphorical swords drawn at each other, before he lowered his voice and inquired, "Why are the both of you like this again?"
  • "He harmed somebody of mine," Danny pursed his lips and snorted coldly.
  • Ryan was stunned for a long time before he understood the situation. Is Danny referring to… Mrs. Turner?
  • "Young Master Danny, you've misunderstood." The butler coughed as he tried to swallow his laughter. It took him several tries before he finally choked out, "Mr. Turner did not cause those wounds on Mrs. Turner's body."
