Chapter 11 What Right Do You Have

  • After Violet left the film set, she walked to the nearby fresh market. She had not forgotten that she needed to cook dinner for Danny and David tonight.
  • "Mr. Turner, Mrs. Turner has gone grocery shopping." The black Bentley stopped by the side of the road, and Patrick glanced at the man in the backseat. "Do we continue to wait? Or…"
  • Henry placed his phone down and lowered the car window to watch Violet's departing back.
  • During the drive here, he had gotten to understand the relationship between Violet and those two from earlier. Violet's boyfriend and best friend had gotten together behind her back. Moreover, they often flaunted their relationship in front of her.
  • Based on her grief-stricken appearance when she was drunk the other night, he initially thought that the incident earlier would make her shed tears in despair. Contrary to expectations... He observed her appearance as she walked into the fresh market. Her footsteps were light and brisk. She was also humming a happy little tune along the way. Thus, he couldn't help frowning slightly.
  • ...
  • Violet finished buying the ingredients she needed to prepare dinner for the two children at the fresh market. As she was leaving, she happened to pass by the fishmonger's stall.
  • The sight of the fishmonger's stall suddenly reminded her of something. She once asked the butler about Henry's favorite foods, and Ryan answered that Henry had a preference for fish.
  • The truth was she had never cooked fish before. That was because Brock had a fear of fish. In fact, he was so scared of fish that he wouldn't even touch a cooked dish containing fish. Over time, she also began to instinctively avoid coming into contact with fish.
  • However, Henry liked to eat fish.
  • She took her time and carefully picked out a fresh fish at the fishmonger's stall. Then, she asked the fishmonger to prep the fish for her to bring back home.
  • Once she was done with her grocery shopping, she walked out of the fresh market with two large and heavy bags. Suddenly, she was abruptly dragged into a small alley by Brock's assistant the moment she stepped out of the entrance.
  • "You're here, after all." Brock was leaning against his car door. The gaze he fixed on her was very indifferent. "Why don't I send you home?"
  • She swept her gaze over the car behind him and smiled faintly. "No need. I currently live with my husband in the villa area located west of the city. A shabby and worn-out car like yours will never be allowed inside the area. Since you know that I am married to Henry, then you should realize that you will never catch up to Henry in terms of wealth."
  • His expression immediately became hideous, and he glared at her. "Did you marry Master Turner for his money? Was it just to build a connection with the wealthy?"
  • She smiled. "That's right."
  • When she looked at him nowadays, her eyes no longer contained the love and obsession she held for him in the past. This man only disgusted her now. "I despised how poor you were. I despised the fact that you will never be as rich as Henry. Does this answer satisfy you?"
  • "You're lying." He stared at her face intently. After a while, he smiled. "I know you. You're not that kind of person."
  • Then, he inhaled deeply and earnestly said, "Violet, are you still angry over what happened just now? Everybody was in a bad mood. I sincerely apologize if we hurt you in any way earlier. Since you won't let me send you back, then I will be brief."
  • He sighed heavily, "Natalie was weeping very sadly just now. She kindly offered three times your usual salary to hire you as her stuntwoman. However, you kept making mistakes during the filming process and even delayed the entire shooting progress. As a result of your mistakes, she was severely reprimanded by the director."
  • She sneered.
  • Why did the director reprimand Natalie? Wasn't it because Natalie kept demanding to retake the scene where she was getting beaten up? How did that become her fault now?
  • "I hope you will take your work seriously in the future. It is important to distinguish between public and private matters." Brock pursed his lips. "I know you are unable to accept the fact that Natalie and I are together in a relationship, but we are sincerely in love. If you wish to blame somebody, then please blame me. It was my fault for being too conservative. I couldn't accept the fact that my lover was having somebody else's child. That's why I began sleeping with Natalie when you were giving birth five years ago."
  • Violet was dumbstruck by his words. There was a loud humming in her ears, so loud that she could barely hear what he was saying.
  • On that day five years ago, she had been in a car accident. She had spent a whole day and night in the operating room before she finally delivered the stillborn baby in her stomach. The doctor had told her that she was very lucky. If her body had been any weaker, she would have died in the operating room too.
  • When she escaped the jaws of death, the first thing she did when she regained consciousness was worried about whether anything had happened to the child. Moreover, if the benefactor refused to pay the compensation, then she would have no means to help Brock clear the scandals surrounding him.
  • However, Brock was now telling her that he had been sleeping with Natalie when she nearly died in the operating room for his sake!
  • She laughed coldly, but her voice was filled with undeniable sorrow. "It turns out that you and Natalie have been hooking up with each other since five years ago."
  • "Don't speak so harshly." He scowled. "What do you mean by hooking up? You were the one who betrayed me first. No man in the world can accept his girlfriend…"
  • Slap! She slapped him hard across the face.
  • That blow contained all her strength, and he was pushed back by the force of the impact.
  • "Five years ago, when you used the money I earned to clear your name, you never told me about how you were disgusted by me or that you were sleeping with Natalie!" She bit her lips tightly. "You used my money to clear your name and enjoyed the glory I brought to you! Disgusted with me? Brock, what right do you have?"
  • He clutched at his face, and his gaze was frigid. "You gave birth to another man's child, yet you shamelessly remained by my side. What's wrong with using some of your money for me?"
  • Those words washed over her, making her feel as though her heart had turned into complete ice.
  • Five years of love… Five years of complete devotion without complaint or regret… I can't believe I produced such an ungrateful b*stard!
  • All of a sudden, she remembered the fish she had bought earlier. He was deathly terrified of fish.
  • So, she gritted her teeth and threw the bloody fish at him! The fish landed squarely in his arms. "It's a present for you! You don't need to thank me!"
  • He began screaming in a shrill voice, "Violet Walt! You're insane! Assistant! Hurry up and get the fish off me!"
  • On the other hand, Violet carried her bags of ingredients and strode out of the alley. She then called for a taxi and left in a huff.
  • "Violet, I will never forgive you…" The man's voice coming from behind her became farther and farther away.
  • When she leaned against the backseat of the taxi, she used her hand to cover her eyes. Alas, her tears still leaked out through the gaps in her fingers.
  • I am the biggest fool in the world! I was fooled and manipulated by Brock and Natalie for five whole years!
  • The traffic was very congested in the evening, so Violet had already finished crying by the time the taxi stopped in front of the Turner Villa. She composed herself before getting out of the car.
  • Along the corridor at the entrance of the villa, Henry stood there on the phone. His slender and long legs were wrapped in a pair of white trousers. He was leaning against the wall of the corridor and smoking a cigarette. While he took a puff on the cigarette, he seemed to be saying something to the person on the other end of the phone.
  • The rays of the setting sun and the lingering smoke made his figure seem even taller. Even his outline seemed more aggressive than usual. The cold masculinity that exuded from him made her heart tremble uncontrollably.
  • Violet carried the ingredients and walked over. She was aware that he was busy, so she deliberately walked along the other side of the corridor. To her surprise, he suddenly ended the call and raised his hand to stop her when she reached his side.
  • Henry studied her with an indifferent gaze. "What's that in your hands?"
  • "It's the ingredients for Danny and David's dinner."
  • He narrowed his eyes slightly, lowered his head, and leaned closer to her. "Only theirs? What about mine?"
  • His imposing aura caused her to panic. She lowered her head and mumbled, "I have yours, too. I bought some fish for you. I heard it was your favorite…"
  • "Where?"
  • She unconsciously lifted her right hand. It was empty.
  • Only then did she realize that she had thrown the fish she bought for Henry at Brock earlier in a pique of anger.
  • She laughed sheepishly. "It seems I forgot to buy the fish. I will make it up to you next time."
  • "Okay." He raised her hand and cupped her lower jaw with a dignified yet charming smile. "Don't forget this. You owe me one."
  • She was so flustered that she couldn't even reply.
  • At a specific five-star hotel, Brock sat at a table with a group of producers and sponsors. However, he couldn't help thinking that the fishy smell from earlier was lingering on his body, never dissipating.
  • The server soon served the food to the table. He glared at the feast of fish laid out before him, but he did not dare to lose his temper.
  • After all, the entire entertainment circle knew that he hated fish!
  • The producer smiled awkwardly. "I'm very sorry, Mr. Dale. Somebody specifically instructed that you are only to eat fish tonight."
