Chapter 35

  • Nathan’s POV
  • I keep my eyes locked on her face, studying every twitch of her lips, the fluttering of her lashes, the rise and fall of her chest. I’m watching for signs that she’s coming back to herself, grounding again after the high we just pulled her through. She’s not fully in subspace, not yet, but she’s slipping. It’s like watching someone walk the edge of a dream, their balance wavering between surrender and awareness.
  • Keeping her in the moment now won’t be easy. Once they tip toward that fog, keeping them from disappearing into the haze takes effort, presence, and control. Luckily, I’m good at all three.
