• Christian watched her for a few seconds, surprised at her attitude, trying to think what words would help him to soothe the girl's discomfort.
• "I never told you that I should marry another, I said that I had some business to take care of first, so that I could be with you," he replied, approaching her again, who did not hesitate to back away from his closeness.
• "I take it from your words that you are now going to retract your confession and try to deny it?" the girl asked with a curious look.
