• The very next day, the party to commence the start of the selection for Varmore Empire’s empress was held in the great hall of the Whitmore Mansion. Everyone, most especially the candidates, wore their finest attire that complimented the light seemingly ablazing the entire hall. The walls were adorned with ornate tapestries and sparkling chandeliers, and not to mention, the floor was a gleaming marble. At the side of the ballroom, musicians were lined up, playing lively tunes while the other guests accompanied it with their graceful dances.
• The dining room, which was right next to the hall, was set with crystal glasses and silverware, and the table was laden with an array of delicious foods and fine wines.
• The place was filled with the sound of laughter and conversation as the guests mingles and greeted each other, but Emery stood at the corner. Social gatherings were not her thing, plus, she knew no one other than several people working in the palace. Though she may feel leftout a bit, she was still thankful for that since she did not need to expend her energy with fake smiles and forced conversations with people she barely knew.
