Chapter 6
- Jessica's POV
- "Damn it!" I gasped, dropping my phone on the table.
- "What happened, Ms. Riddle?" Lucas asked.
- "That asshole Zander threatened me with Johnny," I said angrily.
- "He's gonna use Johnny's company against you?" Lucas asked, "I don't think that's a big problem for us."
- "That company is all he has. I don't want him bothered." I sighed, "I didn't think Zander would be so mean."
- "So what's your plan now?"
- "I'm going to the Harrison Group," I said, grabbing my bag and cell phone.
- I drove alone to the Harrison Group.
- When I entered the building, the scene of yesterday came over me again.
- A feeling of nausea welled up.
- I took a deep breath to calm myself.
- "Mrs. Harrison, good evening."
- The security guard greeted me with a smile. I smiled and ran to the elevator.
- The elevator stopped at the top floor. I walked quickly towards Zander's office.
- I wanted to talk to Zander thoroughly.
- Just as I was about to arrive at the door, a familiar voice sounded behind me.
- "Jessica, wait."
- I stopped and turned around, and my eyebrows furrowed involuntarily.
- It was Serena.
- She wiggled her ass towards me in a tight short skirt.
- I looked at the woman who had interfered in my marriage, but I wasn't angry at all.
- Probably because I knew that it wasn't because of anyone else that Zander and I had become the way we were.
- I didn't want to talk to her. I turned around and kept walking.
- "Stop, where are you going? Don't just walk around the Harrison Group."
- Serena ran up to me, blocking my path.
- "Fuck off," I whispered.
- Serena looked at me surprisingly, "Mr. Harrison isn't in his office, so get out of there."
- "What? Didn't Mr. Harrison inform you? He asked me to come." I raised an eyebrow, looking at her.
- "You're talking nonsense!" Serena remained motionless. She said, "No one is allowed in Mr. Harrison's office without an appointment. It's my duty as his secretary."
- Hearing her words, I let out a mocking laugh.
- I said coldly, "Is it also a secretary's duty to sleep with her boss?"
- Upon hearing my words, Serena didn't show a panicked or embarrassed expression. Instead, she looked a little smug and said, "Yes, I..."
- Before she could finish her sentence, I raised my hand and slapped her.
- I can do some martial arts. So even with half my strength, the slap was powerful enough.
- Serena let out a painful scream and staggered back two steps, clutching her face and looking at me in fear.
- "How dare you!" she shouted.
- "You know what? You're not even worth talking to me," I said, grabbing her hair and dragging her forward.
- In the midst of her shocked screams, I pushed open the door and then forcefully threw her into Zander's office.
- "What's going on?" Zander furrowed his brow and looked at both me and Serena.
- Before I could speak, Serena rushed over to Zander's desk. Her face bore the marks of the slap, her hair was a mess, and she cried, "I don't know why, but Jessica just slapped me when she saw me."
- "I told you to address her as Mrs. Harrison," Zander said in a stern tone.
- Serena suddenly fell silent.
- It seemed she hadn't expected that Zander didn't offer her any comfort.
- "What's going on?" Zander's gaze shifted towards me.
- I pointed to the door and said, "Your secretary wouldn't let me in. Go check out the cameras yourself."
- Serena's expression changed, and she immediately started to defend herself, "If Mr. Harrison asked you to come, you could have told me with a better attitude. But you started by assaulting me."
- "Serena!" Zander shouted at her, "Get out!"
- Serena's face turned red, and she ran out, covering her face.
- Zander took out the divorce agreement and placed it on the desk. He stared at me and said, "Take it back. I never cheated, so this divorce reason doesn't hold."
- "I'll come up with a different reason and provide you with a new one then," I said nonchalantly.
- "Don't push your luck," Zander threatened.
- "Zander, you don't actually think I still love you, do you? Would you let someone have sex in your office?" I mocked.
- Zander, surprisingly, showed a hint of a smile and said, "Why are you so angry? Your behavior now seems a lot like jealousy, doesn't it?"
