Chapter 31

• Layla, after the unsettling encounter with Matthew, decided she needed some space. She couldn't bear to stay in that house any longer, surrounded by memories of a family torn apart and the feeling of being stared at lustfully. With a heavy heart, she packed a few essentials and left, her destination unknown even to herself.
• "I could rent an apartment, a condo or a penthouse." She had thought to herself while in the taxi.
• She then found herself renting a luxurious penthouse in a building that boasted breathtaking views of the city skyline. She had chosen it mainly for the anonymity it provided, a place where she could escape her troubles and try to find some semblance of peace.
