Chapter 24 Twenty Four
- Elise followed Reiner’s steps with precise movements, like a display doll arranged neatly behind a glass cabinet—perfectly poised but incapable of making decisions on her own. Her feet moved across the cold marble floor as the other servants bustled around, preparing breakfast. A few glanced at Elise with sharp, disdainful looks, but she ignored them, focusing her gaze on her task, determined to stay focused.
- In the kitchen, Greta noticed Elise and leaned closer to whisper to another servant. “Does she really have the nerve to come here like that?” she murmured, hoping Elise wouldn’t overhear.
- Elise paid no attention, her thoughts fixed on Reiner’s increasingly distant figure. They finally arrived at the grand dining room where Mr. Abraham usually had his breakfast.
