Chapter 10 First Shift

  • "Kael, it hurts, it hurts—"
  • "I know. I know. Breathe with me." He had her cradled against his chest, both arms locked around her like he could hold her body together through sheer force of will. "This shouldn't be happening. Humans don't shift."
  • "Well, someone forgot to tell my spine that," she gasped, another wave of fire rolling up her back. Her vision blurred. Fur rippled along her arms again, then receded, like her body couldn't commit to the change.
