Chapter 6 Hurt

  • I knew I had nowhere to run. This has to come sooner or later and I had to face him despite all sorrows and frights, for how long I intended to run away?
  • “If you are done staying on the ground, get up and get to work.” A cold tone came. Lifting my gaze, I saw the head maid, Yeter, frowning at me.
  • “You…”
  • Not only him but his servants too.
  • He was resolved to indulge in each tear drawn from me.
  • They were oblivious, not ignorant, “Knew…” I gulped to which she scoffed.
  • “I only follow my orders. Now, stop creating an ordeal and get up.” She called harshly.
  • Using all assets, he would show me my worst nightmare and I have no choice but to lose in his fierce fire.
  • “I see.” Exhaling, I lowered my gaze.
  • After gaining my senses and enough strength to bear my own weight, I got up. I had to accept that those roads of immense fondness no longer exist.
  • Hoping my wobbly legs won’t give up on me and avoid the look which will haunt me for the rest of my life.
  • How did things take such an unfortunate turn?
  • “Stop making that face.” She muttered.
  • “What do you know exactly?” I asked giving her a dry look moving back to ease the tension in my mind.
  • “I had been working with him for five years, you never noticed before and I know enough about you and be grateful that I hadn’t told Madam about you.”
  • “You won’t do it either. Of course you would help him.” I mumbled.
  • “You know what might happen while you are here. Are you in delusion?” She smirked, folding her arms at her chest, throwing harsh reality on my face.
  • “You are still walking on that path with a silly illusion of being his after losing him completely? Do you think he could be yours again?”
  • I shut my eyes when she mocked me.
  • The thorn made my path difficult, but since then it wasn’t?
  • That is another matter that they never hurt me as he always applied ointment on them but things have changed.
  • And now, it hurts. Everything.
  • “He has another woman in his life. His breaths are named as someone else- Nothing is right anymore. I know that, you don’t have to tell me.” Hissing, I moved back, curling my hands in a fist.
  • I could feel the sand slipping through the gaps, cracking.
  • “If you think you will be forgiven for your shameless actions then you are wrong, Eyra Falak.” She enunciated, piercing my heart.
  • But, how will I console the heart whose fate was attached to his? Desiring to live with his name after knowing it’s not worth it.
  • Before I could realize it wasn’t about disgrace rather the heart I shattered- It was too late.
  • “Enough! I know!”
  • I walked out fretfully after the intense confrontation with him and those unwanted talks with Yeter.
  • Now I understood why she was glaring at me all the time.
  • “They are gone. You also get to work. Take Madam’s clothes from the laundry and set them in the closet.” Yeter ordered and walked away.
  • ‘Wow, being someone’s maid now.’ Thinking dryly, I shook my head and went to work, passing the time.
  • In the evening, I wanted to avoid him at all costs. I didn’t want to spend a second in his proximity.
  • Looking around to not stumble upon him anymore. The moment I entered the main hall to leave for my room, I saw him kissing the forehead of his wife.
  • “Fuck.” I whispered under my breath, seeing the ‘loving’ couple.
  • Abrupt grimace crept upon my face at his dupe.
  • ‘How ignorant.’ I thought bitterly and unwillingly came closer to break their tricky moment, forcing a smile at Madam.
  • “Welcome home, Madam.” I said sweetly.
  • Hoping to avoid his eyes scanning my body from top to bottom with a dark smirk. I shivered when his licentious eyes followed me.
  • He was indulging in my nervousness. At the tension which crept on my face.
  • “Hmm, Eyra. Serve dinner. I will be back.” She smiled and left for her room.
  • I nodded and was about to leave but felt him tracing his fingers over my back, his fingers moved across swiftly but smoothly.
  • “Huh?” Almost gasping, I turned only to find his one hand in the air and other in his pocket.
  • “What?” He asked seductively.
  • I thought he wouldn’t dare to come near me in her presence but he grazed my skin, sending shivers down my spine.
  • “You?”
  • I stilled in horror, the moment I turned to him fully, he smirked darkly and walked away as well. Not before trapping me in his sinister gaze which never fails to give me bad omens.
  • Indirectly telling me-
  • ‘Watch what more I would do to you.’
  • Later, they had dinner and I was making them tea with a heavy heart as all the servants left for their quarters. I was coming with their tea.
  • I gave her the cup and when I was about to come to him, he deliberately stumbled on his foot with mine, making the hot tea fall on my hand.
  • “Ah!” Gasping, I put the cup down immediately, making a crying face at my burning hand.
  • “Can’t you watch where you are going?” Aayan mocked, glaring at me.
  • “What happened?” Madam called worriedly, looking up from her phone quickly.
  • “My hands.” I cried, blowing my shaky hands which were hurting badly. With tears in the corner, I looked at him.
  • Hoping to find a hint of compassion but to no avail. Instead-
  • “Ah, she is acting. Are you blind? See? I told you she is useless. Can you hold a cup properly?”
  • A needle stabbed me, releasing a defeated tear, I looked down. I couldn’t believe he was scolding me after trying to hurt me himself.
  • “I am so sorry, Sir.” I whispered in a broken tone, turning to do something about my hand.
  • But, not allowing me to breathe peacefully, he called dominantly, “Wait. Clean up this mess. Now.”
