Chapter 1 Prologue
- •~ Aayan ~•
- ‘How long has it been? Five years?’
- I asked myself. My hand was over my heart, feeling the loud heartbeats as my hazel eyes were staring at the darkness in my ravishingly enormous room.
- ‘How many years had passed since I left her streets? Since I had left her path to never return there again?’
- My medium black hairs scattered over my forehead as my breaths filled the absence of the sound. There was a person sleeping beside me but I felt lonely.
- ‘How many moments have passed…?’
- Closing my eyes to feel the darkness. Yet here I am in my bed with my wife sleeping next to me with a heavy heart, with a burning pain in my chest.
- “Huff.”
- Exhaling from frustration, I rose from the bed at dawn, unable to find rest in this room anymore.
- Being a light sleeper, my wife, Esmeralda’s bewitching emerald eyes opened, holding her hand out to grab my wrist.
- “Aayan? What happened? It’s so early. Are you okay?” She asked groggily, yawning loudly. Her brown hair was messy.
- I won’t deny, Esmeralda was a beauty to behold. Holding a perfect balance of charm and composure.
- “Nothing. I couldn’t sleep. You go back to sleep.” I smiled faintly, removing her hand from my wrist.
- I got out of the bed, pushing my hair behind, leaving the room. She watched me leave but respecting my privacy, she shrugged her shoulders and went back to sleep.
- For the time being, I made myself some coffee, had breakfast and used my phone to divert my mind from unwanted thoughts but stopping the sting in my chest was hard.
- Thankfully, the time passed and I got ready for work. Wearing my brown suit jacket. I buttoned my waistcoat, brushing my hair back as Esmeralda came.
- “Aayan, listen, I want to talk to you.” She cleared her throat, wearing her formal dress, taking a seat gracefully on the couch.
- “Hmm. What is it, Esmeralda?” I hummed, wearing my coat and applying my cologne, completing my dominant posture.
- “I cannot keep track of my schedule and work at home. That is why I am hiring a personal attendant.” She informed me softly.
- “Okay. Do whatever you want.” I shrugged my shoulders, not thinking deeply about it.
- “For home. You know my mind shuts down whenever I enter home. She will help me remember.” She continued, eyeing me suspiciously.
- I didn’t bother to notice or react so I came to her, returning a faint smile as I pinched her cheeks to reassure her, “Yeah, yeah, it’s okay, Babe.”
- She smiled back, took my hand and kissed it.
- “Take care. I am leaving for work.”
- “You too. Bye.”
- I spend my day monotonous at work, unaware of the fact that my worst nightmare was waiting for me at home.
- I never fathomed the past I left behind would chase me to curse my home.
- Using my phone, I gave my office bag to the maid to take it to my room as I rested my free hand in my pocket. Engrossed in my world until my wife came to me.
- “Welcome home, Aayan.”
- When she greeted me sweetly, I smiled faintly, lifting my gaze to respond.
- “Hmm- What the-”
- But, my smile died the second I saw the amber-eyed woman before me. The whole around me came to a halt, the woman I last wanted to see in my life again.
- There she was, as angelic as the first time, hiding all her cruelty behind her innocence.
- There she was, the culprit of my darkness there.
- She returned. For worse? Of course, for worse.
- Looking down timidly with those perfectly tied brown hairs but when my eyes fell on her dainty body, a fire burned my core.
- “Who is she?” I asked dominantly, not removing my seething gaze from hers.
- Holding her dress, she could feel my glare into her soul. She should have thought twice before deciding to come here.
- ‘How could you come back to me after what you did?’ I thought outrageously, barely holding my posture.
- “Oh, she is Eyra Falak, my personal attendant.” Esmeralda spoke sweetly.
- “Come again?” I blinked with confusion.
- ‘That’ woman is now going to live in ‘my’ house? Like hell I would let it happen! I would burn her core if she returned to my life only to ruin it again.
- “My personal attendant. I just told you about her in the morning, remember?” Esmeralda continued and during the whole talk, I didn’t remove my stern eyes from her timid ones.
- “Was it her?” I asked in a low, husky tone, taking a step closer, putting my phone back and holding my head high with a superior aura.
- She didn’t dare to look up.
- “Yes. She is efficient. She would handle everything perfectly.” She smiled, giving me a side hug.
- And to burn this destable woman before me, I embraced her back, pressing my teeth together to not do anything rash.
- “I see…”
- Trailing off, my eyes moved across her body, still looking tempting like ever. Except for this frontage of shyness, nothing changed.
- “Shall I serve us dinner? You look tired.” Esmeralda asked sweetly, delighted when I willingly held her but when I saw her again.
- My whole existence stopped.
- I lost control.
- “No. I am not hungry.”
- Replying coldly, I pulled away from my wife, finally breaking the gaze after frightening the girl with my eyes only.
- “Are you okay, Aayan?” She asked but I waved my hand, shrugging her off.
- “Hmm.”
- My solace was already stolen from me and her return in my life ravaged the life I was intending to barely manage. She turned to her nightmare, to her worst imagination.
- Now, I would show her what I could do.
- Esmeralda fell asleep after taking her sleeping pills and I went, taking my chance.
- The amber-eyed woman, wrapped her work and was about to leave for the servants quarter. Foolishly believing that I would allow her to rest in my home.
- Appearing out of nowhere, I grabbed her arm in a harsh grip, throwing her against the wall furiously, making her whimper in horror.
- “Ah!”
- “What the fuck is your problem!?” I whisper-yelled.
- Gasping, her body began to tremble, holding the wall for support when I hovered over her, pointing my finger furiously at her.
- “What the fuck do you think you are doing here? What are you trying to prove by showing your damned face to me again, Eyra?” I scowled.
- I wanted to hurt her physically but for now, refrained myself. I didn’t want a drama in my house at the moment.
- Convulsing, she looked down, shame shining openly in her eyes. She knew she did wrong. She fucking knew it would torment my soul to find her here.
- Yet she came back.
- “I.. I-I am here to work.” She stammered, gulping hard to remain strong but failed miserably.
- Nor would I let her.
- “Of all the places in the world, you chose to enter ‘my’ home? Do you think I am stupid to not know you are here deliberately? For an ulterior motive?” I hissed, slamming my hand beside her head, glaring down at her soul.
- “What do you want? Why are you here?”
- Absolutely scared, she shut her eyes, releasing a tear. So scared of me yet agreeing to show me her face after I warned her.
- “I need money for my Father’ treatment and Madam Esmeralda is paying me well.” She blurted out hurriedly.
- So scared that I would do anything irrecoverable to her. She should be. Taken aback at her reply, I pulled away slightly, straightening my back but not closing the distance.
- “So you are here for money?” I asked seductively, raising one eyebrow at her shameless reply.
- “Y-Yes.”
- “Oh, right. I forgot that you are a selfish woman after all.”
- I chuckled dryly, turning my head to the side for a second, mocking her as she looked down in embarrassment.
- But then my wrath evoked and I gripped her hair, making her whimper in pain when I glared down at her soul.
- “So now you shall see what happens when you discard my warning. Let’s see how much you can bear for the sake of money.” I whispered in a threatening tone.
- With tears gleaming in her eyes, she tried to call me weakly, “Aayan-”
- “Sir.” I growled, tightening my grip on her hair.
- “Sir, please, don’t-”
- On the verge of sobbing, she trembled violently. I pushed her back, almost causing her to fall while pointing my finger at her ruthlessly.
- “You better start counting backwards now, Eyra Falak.”
- Giving her a warning, my steps retreated, mentally preparing myself to destroy her so she could know that returning to me was the biggest mistake of her life.
