• Understanding her attempt to shift the focus away from herself, Eric didn’t push further and played along. “I’m eager to go home, but the nurses here seem to have grown fond of me, I think,” he chuckled lightly. “They say I’ll need to stay for at least three more days for observation. And yes, it still hurts. I can’t lie on my back, and it’s pretty frustrating.”
• “I’m sorry you’re hurt because of me. But it’s good to know they’re taking care of you here.”
• Eric offered a grateful smile. “Yeah, the medical staff has been great. I can’t complain about that. And don’t worry about me. I’ll be fine.”
