Carmen saw this as the perfect opportunity to escape. He was too preoccupied with trying to make sense of the unfolding events around them. He wouldn’t even notice if she slipped away.
She began to back away slowly, flinching at every bullet that found its target, causing one of Simon’s men to fall to the ground. Her gaze landed on a slightly open door to the side. If she sprinted towards it with all her might, she could reach it within seconds. However, her sudden attempt to flee might startle the men who were occupied with taking down Simon and his men. She could easily become just another target of their bullets.
What should she do?
