Chapter 8

  • 🎶 Wake up! Wake up!! Wake up!!! 🎶
  • I groaned as I tossed around on the bed trying to locate the source of my nap interruption.
  • I located the darn phone under my pillow, right beside my ear where it was blaring off the alarm ringtone.
  • My phone flashed at 9:30 pm and I released a string of curses that should granny hear it she'd probably die from a heart attack.
  • Curses and damnation upon Susie!
  • Turning off my phone, I went into the bathroom and took a quick shower. As quietly as a mouse, I crept into my room not making a sound, and opening my wardrobe, pulling out the pieces Susie gave me calling it a dress.
  • Fucking bloody hell!
  • Please, allow me to curse to my heart content tonight, I'm pissed as hell right now and the cause of my anger will be in front of my house soon.
  • Peering at the silk fabric in my hand, I pulled it over my head and winced at how tight the dress was.
  • It clung to every inch of my body, revealing all my curves in a way that would tempt a man to sin, the emerald dress was awfully short! It stopped just below my knee and had a slit by the right side of the dress exposing more flesh in my thigh.
  • My cleavage was pushed up by the dress's deep neckline and the necklace I used to compliment the dress stopped right in between my breast. The black heels made the dress seem shorter.
  • Gritting my teeth in anger, I held my shoes and purse in my hands then gently opened my room door wincing slightly when it creaked open.
  • After waiting for five seconds and no movement, I continued down the hallway straight into the sitting room and proceeded towards the kitchen when my phone ringtone went off.
  • My heart skipped when I heard the shuffling of feet in granny's room and I prayed the ground will open up and swallow me so she wouldn't see me like this.
  • Muting my phone and cursing when I saw Duncan's number flash on the screen of my phone, I ignored the call.
  • Just then granny's door flew open and she came out rubbing her drowsy eyes. It was obvious she had been sleeping before my phone went off.
  • She saw me standing in front of the kitchen door and rubbed her eyes, stifling a yawn.
  • "Who are you?" Though she was sleepy, her voice still sounded firm.
  • I kept quiet.
  • When she went to turn on the lights, I ran.
  • "Hailey! Intruder!!" She yelled.
  • I ran straight to my room, pulling on my big night dress then ran outback. By now the lights were on.
  • "Granny, what happened?" I asked faking a sleepy voice.
  • "I saw someone here," she muttered.
  • "Are you sure, there's no one here granny?" I looked around.
  • She shook her head. "I could have sworn someone was here but when I turned back to turn on the lights, puff-- the person ran away."
  • I stifled a fake yawn. "Granny, no one is here go back to bed."
  • "Wasn't your phone ringing earlier so close to the kitchen," she pointed out.
  • I froze. "Yeah, uhm—it rang, the volume was pretty loud and it was Duncan calling."
  • She frowned then nodded her head. She was about to say something else when the doorbell went off.
  • I left her to go see who's at the door, it was Duncan. He stepped in, his frown turning into a smile when he saw my grandmother.
  • "Good evening, granny," he smiled at her.
  • She nodded in acknowledgment, "It's late to be here."
  • Duncan nodded, "I know that granny but I came to discuss something with Hailey."
  • She shook her head, "Sorry young man, I'm sleepy right now so I can't tell what will happen if I leave you both alone for five minutes. Come talk to her tomorrow morning."
  • I noticed the annoyed look that crossed his face before he nodded and marched out.
  • I took it upon myself to take granny back to bed so she could sleep as the lovely grandchild I was.
  • A few minutes later and she was snoring lightly, I stepped out of her room discarding my big nightdress and gathering my shoes and purse, I tiptoed out of the house.
  • Running as fast as I could across the street to the other side of the street where Susie's house was located. I saw her standing outside smirking with her hands folded on her chest.
  • "Nice bumping into you in the middle of the night," she teased.
  • I glared daggers at her as I tried to calm my racing heart, fear coursing through my blood.
  • "I hate you!" I growled at her.
  • She scoffed, "The feeling is mutual baby girl."
  • Strutting into her house without me, I followed her into her room mumbling curses under my breath. Now that I think about it, I may have cursed in one night more than what my ancestors cursed in their lifetime.
  • Susie rubbed her hands together, a manic look on her face, "I thought I would never see this day, Hailey."
  • I scowled, "Let's be on our way already."
  • Susie laughed, "Impatient, are we? We've still got to organize your hair that's running over the place."
  • I stared at Susie. She was dressed in a black mini skirt if this could be considered as one because she was bending down right now and I could see her butt cheeks, she was wearing a thong.
  • She wiggled her ass in my face. "Like what you see?"
  • I made a face and she laughed.
  • "Come on, Hailey. I'm going to give you the best night ever!"
  • I had no idea what Susie meant but against my will, my body trembled in excitement.
