Chapter 7

  • Ruth's Point Of View
  • "No, please, let Ruth and Alpha Silas meet! We haven’t betrayed the pack!” Eleanor struggled to crawl to Eden's feet, crying and begging Eden.
  • But Eden kicked Eleanor away.
  • Her scream of pain made me lose all control. I lunged at Eden and began struggling with him.
  • I bit down hard on his wrist, and he let out a scream.
  • "Someone help!" Eden shouted. He swung a punch at my head. I barely dodged it, but fell hard to the ground.
  • A sharp pain cramped my stomach. I tried to transform, but the pregnancy had made me so weak, I couldn’t even stand.
  • The sound of chaotic footsteps grew louder. I looked at Eden with hatred. His wrist was bleeding where I had bitten him.
  • He cursed under his breath and rolled up his sleeve to examine the wound.
  • I was surprised to find that Eden also had a black snake tattoo on her forearm, which looked very similar to the one on Moira's arm. But I was so dizzy at the time, and the light in the dungeon was very dim, so I couldn't confirm whether they were exactly the same.
  • Before I could process what it meant, soldiers rushed in. They dragged Eleanor up, and I was forced into handcuffs.
  • Eleanor and I were taken together to the border of the pack.
  • "I'm sorry, Eleanor. I dragged you into this,” I whispered as I helped her lean on me.
  • Eleanor was extremely weak. Her lips were cracked, and her face was pale. She only shook her head slightly and said nothing more.
  • Then Silas showed up.
  • I stared at Silas, still holding on to a last glimmer of hope, hoping that Silas would see the truth and protect Eleanor and me.
  • But Silas looked at me coldly and said, “As the Alpha of the Frostscarred pack, I declare that Ruth Riverwood and Eleanor Lena are hereby exiled. They no longer belong to the Frostscarred pack and are never allowed to return.”
  • The moment Silas finished speaking, a searing pain ripped through me, spreading from my heart to every inch of my body.
  • The bond between me and Frostscarred was severed. I couldn't stand. I collapsed to the ground, gasping for breath. Lunette was wailing and thrashing inside me.
  • I fell to my knees, convulsing uncontrollably.
  • For a moment, it felt like my soul had separated from my body. I heard myself screaming Silas’ name, begging him to save me.
  • As the horrible torture faded a little, I gradually regained control of my body.
  • I managed to sit up, and when I turned my head, I saw Eleanor lying not far away, blood was flowing from the corner of her mouth, and the ground around her was covered with scattered bloodstains.
  • I crawled to her side, pulled her into my arms, and kept calling her name.
  • "Silas! Eleanor fainted!" I shouted, crying. But Silas only looked at us coldly, as if we were strangers.
  • "Goddess, please save Eleanor. Please!" I cried out, screaming in desperation. Had the Moon Goddess truly abandoned me?
  • “It’s just exile, not execution. This is my greatest mercy. Ruth, take your bastard away forever and never come back." With that, Silas turned and walked away, taking everyone with him.
  • I hugged the unconscious Eleanor and burst into tears. Helplessness and fear devoured my reason like a monster. Only then did I truly feel that I was completely abandoned by everything I once knew.
  • It was getting dark. I couldn't stay here overnight. Eleanor was in a bad condition. I had to find a way to save her.
  • After looking around, I struggled to carry Eleanor on my back, took a last look back at the place where I had lived since I was a child, and turned to walk toward the dark forest.
  • At this point, I just wanted to find a place to settle Eleanor, but the road ahead grew increasingly desolate.
  • I stopped at every store I passed, begging for a place to stay the night, but everyone turned me away. I had no choice but to sleep with Eleanor at the station. I picked up some cardboard and spread it on the ground, letting Eleanor lean on me.
  • I didn't dare sleep at all. People passing by gave us strange looks.
  • The next day, I found that Eleanor had started to have a fever. I managed to get a bottle of water from a kind stranger and slowly fed it to her. We hadn’t eaten in over a day.
  • However, Eleanor's condition only worsened. She was barely conscious, her skin burning, her breathing fast and shallow. I could only carry her on my back again and walk toward the neutral zone. I’d heard that exiled wolves sometimes gathered there, seeking survival in a land that belonged to no pack.
  • Night fell again, and I finally reached the entrance of the neutral zone. This place didn't look like a normal pack. The roadside was full of people who looked like homeless people. They stared at me with strange eyes, making me feel very uneasy.
  • I carried Eleanor down a narrow alley, passing a lively bar.
  • Her body was burning up on my back. She couldn’t endure the cold any longer. I clenched my teeth and stepped into the bar.
  • I settled Eleanor in the corner of the bar and prepared to ask the bartender for some food.
  • But as soon as I approached the bar, my way was blocked by a yellow-haired man, looking me up and down with greedy eyes.
  • "Miss, want to have some fun with me?” His voice was disgusting.
  • I shook my head and tried to get around him. But he grabbed my wrist and laughed viciously, "Although it's a bit dirty, you have a good figure."
  • "Let me go." I pleaded weakly. Eleanor was still waiting for me, and I couldn't be taken away.
  • The yellow-haired man ignored my request for help. He pressed me against the wall and held my hands above my head. He said in a hoarse voice, "Be good, don't make trouble..."
  • I tried to resist, but I was too hungry and too weak. I had no strength left. He completely surrounded me.
  • Then, he stroked my face with his hand and reached out to unbutton the first button of my shirt. “You’re mine tonight. No one’s going to save you.”
  • I used the last of my strength to push him away, but he held me tightly. My vision blurred. I could only watch as he unbuttoned my clothes one by one.
  • Suddenly, a figure flashed by and grabbed his hand firmly. Then he exerted force and I heard a cracking sound, followed by his high-pitched scream.
  • I was saved. Someone had come!
  • I was about to thank him, but the moment I saw his face, my blood surged. It was him! Kaelus Moen!
