Chapter 8

• She walked me into a room filled with about 20 females. The sounds of laughter can be heard from all angles, eveyone had hands busy changing into the uniform
• "Wait here" she tells me the walked further into the room
• My presence wasn't noticed as everyone is busy with their thing, it felt like something they are used to everyday.
• This laughter which is so very natural and the cool aura around the room
• Not knowing why, a smile form to my face. This people here are going to be my coworkers and this right here is the exact way it's been
• I sight her whom I haven't even asked her name coming back
• "Come on" she drags my hand "you are already so late" we walk pass all the other ladies and as their eyes venture to me I gave them small smile
• "What is your..." My question was interrupted as we walk into another room with 5 ladies and another one standing up
• Standing outside the door she motions for me to go inside
• I walk to where the rest are seated after thanking the lady who has been helpful
• "You are late on your first day, Loveth told me the reason so I will pardon that" the lady standing said
• I apologized and she nodded before continuing. So her name is Loveth then
• After the brief introduction which comprises of nothing interesting we don't already know, do not be late do not stay in a room for more than 30 minutes and blah and finally handed the manual to us and a bag
• "For now you all will be working on the morning shift, we will reassign after the end of this week"
• She introduced 6 different ladies Loveth included who will help us on our first day
• "Since you two have met already, you can work together" and that was how I found myself working with Loveth

• "This uniform is meant for you" she said to me as I finish wearing the uniform
• Strapped blue and white straight cut skirt with a white t-shirt and preferably a sneakers
• "Why will someone who will be bent over a bed dressing it be wearing a straight cut skirt" I smoothen the skirt as she leads me away
• "Because you are a cleaner doesn't mean you shouldn't look sexy, I think that is what they were going for"
• I scoff, sexy indeed
• She led us into another room that had all the cleaning materials stuffed in them, one by one we pick the necessary ones putting it into a trolley with mops
• "I think I was assigned the fourth floor" she brought out her phone checking it and once confirmed we move to the fourth floor
• The guest using the room had just left, lots of things were scattered round the room, you can see the pillow shred out from it's case and laying on the floor
• Or the beddings that already too scattered
• "Am going to check the bathroom" she pushed the trolley she carried going to the bathroom
• I fix my leg right there on the same spot. It still feels fuzzy not looking real too
• That am here working as this. Knowing how many hours I put in place just to study like a crazy person only for me to keep ending up with thrashy work
• "You can't handle this one, just clean the room" she said standing at the door to the bathroom
• I nodded pushing my trolley till I got to the bed. Wanting to drop every though from my mind I plug in my earphones and set to work
• I didn't realize how much I've done as I dance and swayed to the beat of the music until I realized there was nothing left to be done
• "You have successfully cleaned the entire room, and fast too. Well done" Loveth complimented me as she pushes out her trolley already done with hers as well
• Just like we move to another room and another room and another room till I was completely exhausted before the shift finally ended
• The happiness is evident in my eyes as we went back to the dressing room having dropped everything we used for the cleaning
• "Thanks for today" I said to Loveth as we change back into our causal wears
• "You are easy to talk with so I had lot's of fun too. And it won't be as stressful as this when you get used to it" she patted my shoulder
• Walking out of the hotel felt like a breath of fresh air, I needed my bed my body screamed
• Not that I have no idea it could be this stressful but still
• "Joseph Love" a someone screamed my name, I recognize it immediately
• "Paula?" She waved her hand at me excitedly jumping up
• I walk towards her shaking my head with a smile pulling on my face, trust Paula to be extra extra
• "What are you doing here?" I pull her to a quick hug
• "What does it look gurl, am giving you your first day cheer, someone has to" she said excitedly
• I shrugged "Not like it's an actual actual job so.."
• "Said by you, but you know I do not care about that. So what do you say about a little party?" She twirl her body in a dancing move
• Passerby are already looking our way and I have to shake her off her vibing mood
• "Stressed, tired so I can't" I told her
• Her shoulder slumped, with a frown appearing on her face
• ''You do look tired so I won't stress it but don't think I will not still drag you to a party next time"
• "I will gladly follow suit" I confirm to her as we started walking to the bus stop together
• ''So how was it? Anything to share?" She gave me a questioning look
• "Apart from been late on my very first day I don't think it was that epic but hey I actually made a new friend, sort off"
• I thought I will be getting a smile off her face but she is frowning, more deeply now
• She held my shoulder and I stop walking as she did same
• "Advice from me, stop making work friends Sarang, you know what happened last time"
• How can I ever forget that. The people who are actual loners at work do not get suspended for having side talk with a friend
• Not promising her anything I started walking again
• Suddenly my leg feels heavy, I am going back home. Checking the time it's already 5pm
• For having spent the whole day outside am not going to hear the whizz of it
• "Should I just go back to that hotel and sleep there?" I ask Paula who looked puzzled at my question, but when she realized why I said that we busted into laughter
