• He held the door open and then shut it before she could go through it. “Wait.” He looked down to see the surprised look on her face. “We, uh—” He looked around to see if anyone else was nearby. There wasn’t anyone. “We need to talk.”
• She nodded. “Okay.”
• They needed to talk. He knew it. He knew what he had to say to explain things to her. Now, if he could just get the words out of his mouth instead of bouncing around in his head, that would be a good start.
