• The turbine whirred to a gentle halt, signaling the end of the wash cycle, as Karen carefully lifted the lid of the washing machine, her eyes scanning the contents as she sequentially retrieved the freshly cleaned clothes, one by one, and deposited them into a nearby basin.
• Almost immediately she brought down the lid, and a tall, masculine figure suddenly appeared before her, causing her to let out a frightened gasp as her heart raced wildly, threatening to explode from her chest.
