Chapter 7 Mate!

  • *Alec*
  • Mate..
  • Lex's word kept ringing in my head as I made my away from the garage, walking as fast as I could back into the pack house. It was so fucking strange and totally unbelievable, how on earth could Bellatrix be my mate, in fact why would I have another mate? It didn't make sense, but my wolf couldn't be wrong could he?
  • I walked into the pack house, ignoring the greetings from the pack members that were still around and stormed into my office upstairs, it was the office I used whenever I spent more than a day here.
  • I collapsed on the sofa, stuffing my hands into my hair as I groaned in frustration. It didn't take long before Hera whom I had mind linked on my way here entered the room. Hera was the pack's witch and she was also a werewolf which made her an hybrid. She always had answers to every questions if I do not exaggerate, so she should know what this meant.
  • "Alpha Alec, your impromptu summoning of me seemed urgent, anything wrong?" She asked, and as she spoke I knew she was already aware. Of course she would, nothing escapes her eyes here in Winter pack and even beyond.
  • "White wolfs are cursed to have only one mate, isn't that how it has been?" I raised my eyes to look at her as she stood before me.
  • "Yes, and it has never changed. The curse of the white wolf is a result of the special powers they carry apart from the normal powers a Lycan possesses..."
  • "Right, I know of that story.. But what the hell is this?, you know the worst thing? I have been close to her for three days and neither my wolf or I felt anything. Not even a clue whatsoever, and when he finally does, it is just a word.. No scent to back it up."
  • "I really do not understand this too, in my whole years of life, this is the strangest occurrence I have ever come across, especially with what happened at the pool of transition." Hera said. Hera knew almost everything, but her not understanding this was either a bad omen or something much more worse and even with the pool of transition.
  • The pool of transition was kind of a legendary stream that has rested in the heart of the pack for centuries, even before the name of the pack was changed. There were stories surrounding the existence of that stream, some of which were true and others were not, but over two decades ago. A prophecy was made about the pool..
  • The presence of a person would disturb its peace, and after then, every creature will regain its rightful place.
  • No one understood the prophecy, not even Hera.. And now this..
  • "So you have no explanation of what it could be?"
  • "The only explanation I've gotten so far is that she isn't a mere human, and she is not a wolf or vampire either.. But yet she has a kind of relations with these two species... For now, that's what I know" Hera replied with a sigh.
  • "So what do I do now? She doesn't seem like she is aware of whatever she is, except she is pretending."
  • "She is not aware. And if my guess is right, she does not even know she is your mate."
  • If someone had told me I will get to this kind of point where I wouldn't be able to comprehend happenings related to me, I would have laughed to his face, but now not only did I not understand I couldn't even relate it with other events. Why would the moon goddess give me another mate? Why had I not known who she was throughout the three days we've stayed together? And why is my second chance mate someone who does not even understand who she is, if Hera is right.
  • Just like I said earlier, it didn't make sense.. This whole thing didn't make any fucking sense. It seemed like the moon goddess was starting to play a game of poker with my life, when infact it has only been three months since I lost Julianne.
  • "You can leave now, Hera and let me know if you come across anything."
  • "Of course, Alpha" She smiled and walked out, leaving me to wallow in my newfound misery.
  • ~
  • Bellatrix was not at home when I got there and its been three fucking hours since she left the pack house, I really shouldn't have let her leave on her own. I could feel my wolf starting to growl at her absence. It was one thing to find my mate, it was another thing to be able to keep up with the mate pull. It was like a magnetic field that was always at work, and so if she is not beside me, my wolf will automatically get into a state of unrest. It was as much as a curse as it was a blessing to us Lycans.
  • Even though I hadn't gotten over Julianne, I could already feel the intense mate pull towards Bellatrix. The moon goddess was punishing me if I were to be honest, I mean why else would she give me a second chance mate when normally I shouldn't have one.
  • Two loud female squeals followed by the banging of the door and a loud laughter obstructed my train of thoughts. Bellatrix was here and with my sister. I raced out of my room down the stairs to see her and Leila dumping bags of whatever was inside on the floor as they collapsed on the chair.
  • "Bellatrix! Where the fuck have you been? I fold you to come straight home!" I yelled. Bellatrix immediately stood up, staring at me with wide eyes.
  • "Uh... Hi?" She muttered, rubbing the back of her neck frantically and then, strangely burst into a fit of laughter. The first thing I noticed as I stared back at her were her bloodshot eyes, and then the strong smell of alcohol as she spoke.
  • "Lee, you got her drunk?!" I yelled at my sister.
  • "Sorry, I forgot she was human and not immune to alcohol like us." Leila replied shrugging.
  • "Regardless! You do not go about getting people drunk. What the hell is wrong with you!"
  • "But I... I ain't dr..unk" Bellatrix slurred with a grin. "Leli just took..me out to have...have a lot of fun. See, I've never — had so much...much fun in my whole life." She was stuttering, her words stumbling over each other in a drunken innuendo.
  • "Great, now I'm Leli" Lee muttered with a chuckle, earning a glare from me.
  • "Hey, C'mon Brother, why are you suddenly being so aware of your caretaker when all you've been to her since she arrived is all summed up to cold and distant Eh?"
  • "That's none of your business Lee, you should leave now.." I said as I held Bellatrix and led her staggering body to the sofa, she slumped down and slowly drifted to sleep in an instant.
  • "What are you not telling me Alec?" Lee asked, standing up when I turned to look at her.
  • I probably should have let her know that the caretakers she and mum brought for me was my second chance mate, but I didn't want to so i shook my head. "There is nothing i am not telling you... You don't expect me to leave a drunk girl who is supposed to be my worker helpless?"
  • "You gave her your car keys. The car you cherished the most"
  • "I told her to drive it home, Lee enough of your questioning and leave! Now!"
  • "Alpha—"
  • I sighed, running my hands through my hair, already hating that I had to use my Alpha command on my sister "Just go Lee, please."
  • Lee nodded, grabbed one of the white bags on the floor and stormed out. I heaved in a sigh again and turned back to the chair Bellatrix was laying on, and as I bent to lift her up, it was then I smelt it — her scent, like a mixture of lavender and fresh raspberries.
  • She really is my mate.
