Chapter 7
- Evelyn's POV
- My wolf came alive, excited and tried talking to me but I shut her voice off. As I did, I became haunted. The video of us moaning and groaning, fucking each other began to play in my head that I suddenly opened my eyes pushing Caleb off.
- He refused to leave me.
- “What's it?” I scolded him, wishing he would leave me alone so I wouldn't have to fight between the hate and desire that was rocking my chest.
- When he refused to answer me, I shot my gaze straight at him but a pair of gentle eyes met me, making me calm for a moment. I felt like I was under the influence of his charming beauty.
- “Just marry me and become my Luna. I'll take care of you.”
- “I promise.”
- I slid off his grip at the moment he never expected. I ran out of the room, stopping at the door. “Go away! I'll never marry you. You asked me to stay away from you.”
- “I'm sorry,” he muttered and I gasped. If someone had told me that Alpha Caleb of Liberty Pack, the coldest and most insensitive Alpha I've ever heard of, the Alpha with the greatest pride could say sorry, I wouldn't believe. I sprang off before he clearly noticed that I was shocked by his disposition.
- Upon arriving at the living room, I met grandpa with Caleb's cousin, he gestured me to the seat opposite him.
- “Where's Alpha Caleb?” He asked still with a cold tone that got me really uncomfortable. I had to confess to him the truth, I would endure it even if he scolded me but right now and coupled with what Caleb said to me, I didn't want to have anything to do with him.
- “Grandpa, it's not like that. I was drunk and mistakenly–” He pointed his palms at me, signaling me to stop.
- “I don't need your explanation. We will do the needful whether you like it or not.”
- Caleb walked into the room. I was expecting him to sit with grandpa but instead he sat beside me. I shifted off as I felt uncomfortable. I looked at him with horror, wondering what he was doing. His cold demeanor didn't depart from him, it was right there, it showed right there on his face. I could see he was just trying to be nice but I couldn't tell his real intention.
- “Why are you doing this?” I scoffed, glaring at him with disgust.
- He didn't say a word because grandpa spoke, disrupting our attention. Imaginations of what he would have said rocked my chest.
- “I've seen what's going on in the internet space right now and I guess I lift up the ban on some internet contents being filtered off. Alpha Caleb confessed here that he started searching for you right after your encounter with him. He couldn't get you off his head.”
- I cocked my head to my side, wanting to confirm this. Disbelief was all over my gaze but Caleb gave me a curt nod, folding his lips.
- “I wanted to know more about you and now you're pregnant for me, I need to marry you.” Though gentle, yet his tone was commanding. His possessive and controlling nature wasn't off.
- “Why must you marry me? I have the dream of marrying for love, don't think I'm one of those girls who would marry anyone that hits on them.” I threw these words at him and watched how it hurt him. This went for his revenge of asking me to stay away from his sight although I meant it in reality. I was still trying to process the dilemma I'd gotten myself into, Frank’s betrayal, my wolf's desire for Caleb and the most recent, getting pregnant.
- I really wanted to sort things out.
- “Evelyn,” grandpa brushed in. “Do you think I'll accept a daughter with a fatherless child as part of my family?”
- I fell back to the sofa feeling weakened.
- “I can't and never will. I'm an Alpha, I don't need anyone to tarnish the reputable interest I've built over the years. You will choose either marrying him or getting kicked out of this family and the pack.” He rose up, stamping the pregnancy result on the table.
- “You have twenty-four hours to make this decision.” He walked out leaving me with Caleb.
- “But I can take care of my baby alone!” I wanted to be stubborn but my wolf brushed in.
- “Can you really survive being a rogue with pregnancy? Even if you were to escape to the human world, where would you get the money to take care of yourself and your baby? You'll likely end up destroying your life and that of your baby by taking this risk.”
- It's true!
- Once I'm out of my family's care, they will seize all my assets and financial support which comes from them. I would no longer be an actress as no place of work accepts a rogue. It will tarnish their image. Not only if I'm rejected by my family and pack, getting pregnant out of wedlock and with no man claiming it, I'll likely be fired. Being an entertainment industry that features films which are watched by people all over the world, their actors and actresses must maintain a good reputation. If the children and youths watching me on set learnt about my story, what would they learn from me?
- “Your sister and Frank will rejoice seeing you suffer. Think about it.”
- “Just think about it!” My wolf's voice lingered until it went silent and I was left to decide my fate.
- After Caleb left, I sat with grandpa to deliberate in this issue.
- "Evelyn, it doesn't matter, Caleb is much better than him. He's an Alpha and the President of his family estate, a multi-billion fortune. Frank is under him and he won't risk his position and life for you."
- "Whatever!” I snapped. “I don't care, even if he's President of the whole world. I want to marry for love, and not for riches." I snapped, referring to my wish before I came down to the earth and decided to live as a werewolf.
