Chapter 6

  • Emily's POV
  • Caleb held up with a slight grin which was about getting wider but he hid his face.
  • Grandpa walked up to us, switching his gaze between them and myself. “Who are these?” He repeated. My body was arching, I had goosebumps all over my body. My fate was now dependent on the response either of us would give to him, I heard there were some rumors which my acquaintance over there sent to me. I was praying grandpa wouldn't hear, this is Blue Moon Pack and most of the news over there are blocked on the internet space here. Being ruled by a conservative Alpha, the chances of smut news flowing all over the internet are filtered.
  • The guy who declared himself as the Alpha over at the Liberty Pack cleared his throat and stepped forward. “I'm Caleb, the about-to-be installed Alpha of Liberty Pack.” He paused. “I heard there was a misunderstanding between my brother and Evelyn here, so that's what I'm here for.”
  • Grandpa nodded slowly, trying to take this statement in. He waved at me, gesturing to me to leave. He sat with Caleb and his cousin. I walked away thanking my lucky fate that Caleb didn't tell grandpa the truth, lest I'd be done for. I don't know if he will ever see me the way he used to before, as his innocent granddaughter.
  • Whatever they spoke about, I didn't know. I thought he was gonna send for me but he didn't. I started feeling uneasy and nervous towards evening time, my head was arching. I went over to sit by the garden and inhale the scents of the flowers thinking this would help but it didn't. Worse is I had no one to talk to, I thought I was living a cool life until this moment, not even a single friend to console me and tell me everything will be alright.
  • I had to visit the pack clinic for a check up.
  • “Maybe it's the emotional trauma I've endured these past few days,” I muttered seeing the doctor come out with the test result.
  • She smiled sweetly, smirking. “No, you're pregnant.”
  • Cold shivers rained down my spine, goosebumps appeared all over my body. I was shaking, it's like I caught a sudden fever and my senses were going away from me.
  • “What's going on?” I heard the doctor's panicky voice, it was slowly fading away. My heart was slightly stopping, I felt my breath going away. I passed out prior to the terrifying shock that struck my heart.
  • When I woke up, I was lying on the bed in my room. I jerked up immediately, shrugging. The image of myself at the hospital played in my mind. The last thing I remembered before I passed out was the doctor telling me I'm pregnant and holding the result in her hands.
  • I sprawled my eyes around to check who was present with me in the room, my eyes landed on none other but Caleb, then grandpa and Caleb's cousin. I quickly retraced my gaze back to grandpa, he held a cold gaze. Caleb had a cold yet sarcastic expression, he seemed quite mysterious. You could never tell what he had in mind, he never looked simple at any point in time. Even in such critical moments, he maintained his demeanor, one thing that made me eager to know more about him.
  • I shut my eyes so tight, balling my fist.
  • I'm finished!
  • Before grandpa could get to stand here with these two guys, then he must have been called and notified that I'd passed out at the pack clinic. Everyone knew I was the Alpha's granddaughter, living away didn't stop people from recognizing who I was.
  • “Evelyn,” his cold voice rang out. “What's this? Can you explain?”
  • Slowly, I raised my eyes to check out what he was referring to but something told me it was the pregnancy result. I folded my lips, sniffing in a bit and parting my lips to speak out. I wanted to shout out, accusing Caleb of impregnating me but who initiated this? When I thought of this, the words which almost slipped out of my mouth died down and my lips closed again.
  • Evelyn's POV
  • I shut my eyes really tight, shaking my head. I raised my eyes at Caleb to show him how angry I was with him, I couldn't control the anger rocking my chest.
  • “Why didn't you refuse me?” I shouted.
  • “Look, I was just trying to help you out,” he stretched out his hand towards me but I slapped it away, his voice was cool nonetheless. With his cold demeanor, I didn't expect him to be so gentle with me. I couldn't fall easily for this though, he might be faking it.
  • I decided not to keep quiet till I unleashed all of my anger on him.
  • “Why didn't you use a condom with me?” I screamed again but as the words slipped out, I immediately regretted it, brushing my hand over my lips and eventually clipping it together. Like a frightened child, I raised my eyes to watch grandpa's expression.
  • “Meet me in the living room.”
  • With this, he turned and headed out. He looked most dangerous when he wasn't talking, I couldn't tell what my fate would be. My heart was beating, I grabbed my chest releasing heavy oxygen from my mouth. I was panting, I could hardly breath through my nostrils.
  • Caleb gave a signal to his cousin to head off before me.
  • “Okay.” I heard him say.
  • He walked closer to me on the bed, placing his right hand over my upper back and resting his fingers on my shoulders. I struggled to push it away, just then he encircled his left hand over me. His face came closer, I could sense his scent which came up strong on me.
  • My breaths which were quick now turned slow but more heavy, so I closed my eyes trying to pull my attention away from the distraction that was rocking my body.
