Chapter 4 Their Secret

• The rest of the day was unsettling to Rachael. Jesse's perfect face kept envisaging in her mind. She found her mate after ten years and he didn't recognize her. The funny thing was he will never recognize her . Was she meant to wallow in the pain of losing a mate she never had.
• Recalling Landon's threat she sighed. she can not risk living among werewolves. Pearl won't be able to have a morning run and then it hit her . She had to do it for the sake of her house unless she will be homeless and broke. Hence she decided to meet him as scheduled after convincing herself that she was doing it for the money and nothing else.
• Landon was at the cafeteria waiting for her. He feels a sense of duty and familiarity towards her and intends to know the reason. So, he smiled when she arrived ushering her to take a seat.
• Rachelle sat opposite him but was curious to know something "I want to ask a question" he gestured for her to proceed by nodding " Why me? " Her simple but yet tough question confused him cos he didn't know the answer either.
• " We have a secret remember? You recognize Larry from somewhere and I am trying to stop my Alpha from killing you. Is that good enough?"he says and She burst out laughter. A loud one . It should offend him but it didn't.
• Weird.
• " What do you mean? I have never seen him before but I will take the job. My pay a week will be ten thousand bucks" she bargained expecting him to dismiss her but his response was different quite the opposite." Okay. You are resuming tomorrow. I will send someone to pick you up" He said and she shook her head in shock. What was happening?
• "By four in the day and how do you know where I live? "
• " From a reliable source," he paid for the food and left reminding her of the schedule.
• Jesse returned to the pack House and found his best tracker Michael pacing in his office but stopped to acknowledge him.
• " Alpha, I have good news"
• "I can see that. Let's hear it" he stated in expectation.
• " We found out another person survived the attack. Should I arrange for a meeting?" Jesse massaged his brow standing on his feet with an impressed grin.
• "No one survived it but get him nevertheless" Michael curt nod and left.
• " yes Alpha" Cindy walked in giving him a lingering kiss.
• "You look tired Jesse perhaps a run with kinky might help" she suggested they shift together. Probably curious about his lycan size.
• "I am fine Cindy. I'm close to the truth. So close" he stated taking a seat thus Cindy took the opportunity to sit on his lap fiddling with his perfectly trimmed beards.
• "You know how to get what you want, don't you?" He asked coyly with his hands around her waist but not romantically.
• "I just love you so much, Jesse. I wish I could take away your suffering. I will give anything to see you happy and cheerful. Is it too much to wish for?" She asked caressing his chest. Cindy and Jesse grew up together as friends cos their pack was in a peaceful alliance.
• But the Alpha and Luna didn't bore kids thus adopted one but he was killed because he wasn't from the alpha's bloodline luckily news of Jesse's pack carnage reached them and he was chosen as the Alpha.
• The New Moon pack appreciated his protection though he barely expresses himself. Choosing him as their Alpha was their greatest accomplishment with no regret. Other packs shudder at the mention of him. He was legendary among werewolves. Every pack wishes to be in alliance with him.
• The funny thing is, he wasn't proud of his achievements cos he knows it wasn't typical to wield the raw power he had. A ruthless Alpha challenged him once and he ripped him off in his human form with claws and fangs. The day he shifted to his wolf rex was excruciating as he increases in size and height yearly. He marveled at his bulkiness feeling the power surging through his veins that can annihilate a country. He felt great misery behind his capability thus hastened his search for the killers before he loses himself to rage. He felt protective of Cindy but he wasn't certain of his feelings though he was doing it to tame Rex. They needed a woman's touch.
• "We are together arent we? You have me till you find your mate" he said as she smiled glad he didn't want a mate thus smashed her lips on his savoring his taste.
• "You taste like rain. So natural" she said moaning into his mouth. Jesse sneered deepening the kiss then a knock had him stop. Cindy wasn't happy about it either thus sat up taking a seat by his side.
• " come in " Landon entered the office with a curt nod.
• " Yes? Speak" he instructed.
• "I have employed a part-time doctor for Larry. You know her the doctor that attended to him at the hospital" he paused shrinking at the way Jesse was looking into his soul like he was aware of his deception.
• "You must be wondering why I picked a human. I did because she saw him in his wolf form .." His growl was menacing as he took long strides to him jerking him off the ground with pitch-black eyes.
• " I am sorry for keeping it a secret but she doesn't know what she saw and we could make her the pack doctor. our pack needs one. We could threaten her or capture her as a hostage. Trust me she won't mind as long as we pay her. She's in dire need of money" he tried to be assuring to elude his wrath but what he got was his silence though he didn't disclose his sudden connection towards her.
• " All humans are in dire need of money. Very well then. You may proceed with it. I want positive results unless she is out and when I say out, it's final" he warned as Landon flashed his white teeth in ecstasy.
• " Thank you Alpha"
• "One more thing, I want eyes on her while she does her job"
• "I will arrange for it " Landon curt nods.
• "Perhaps Cindy can help me with the preparation" he requested as Jesse conceded. Cindy was about to decline then he used his Alpha tone on her.
• "Go with him. Assist him in whatever way you can involving the new doctor. I don't want her roaming around my property " He ordered and she had no choice but to obey when he speaks in that particular tone. All alphas had the power to compel their pack members to submit to them through their voice . It was a gift from the moon goddess Selena.
• " Yes Alpha," she said sadly exiting the room while Jesse felt awful for treating her that way. Impatience and disobedience was something he doesn't condone as Rex demanded loyalty from his pack.
• He sat back reflecting on Racheal's gawking eyes and his sudden scrutiny. He didn't want to dwell on the issue thus took his clothes off to free Rex. He needed to run.
