Chapter 12 Alpha

  • Chapter 12
  • Derek and I had fun keeping our relationship a secret from my family and the rest of the witch community. He couldn’t come around my house anymore and I was never allowed at his anyway, so all our meet-ups had to be at all of Lafayette’s shady places. We planned dates without agreeing on their venues and because my aunties and other relatives owned shops and businesses around town, we couldn’t even take walks together during the day. We hung out mostly during the night--and I mean late into the night. I was very surprised I was even allowed by mom to keep such late nights but I guessed she left me to my own devices because she didn’t want me to be very depressed. Either that or she just didn’t notice. I couldn’t care less anyway.
  • So, Ethan and I had our relationship on a nighttime basis. When everyone was asleep, I would wander out of our house into the entrance of the lonely community building. I usually carried my legendary diary so that no one would be too suspicious if they saw me sitting on a random bench at ten at night. I would keep myself busy by trying to draw the banshee I saw in my most recent dream while waiting for Ethan. My favorite thing about our dates is how his face lights up once he sees me on that bench, waiting patiently for him. It was obvious he loved me, but I wanted to know how long he would think I was enough for him. Normally, boys like him wouldn’t even talk to a girl like me. Especially a girl like me who was also a witch. But, no, I didn’t want to keep thinking like this. It would ruin us. I hoped to enjoy it until he decided he was annoyed.
