Chapter 16 I Surrender

• I’ve been silent all the way through the carriage, even when Lady Kendra embraced Alpha Edison after he told her that we had to go because I was not feeling well. I was so pleased that I didn’t have to stay in that place full of strangers. What made me more upset was that evil, taunting smile on Kendra's face while she was embraced by the Alpha. I didn’t know what her deal was, but it seemed she was enjoying the contempt she saw on my face.
• She was the prettiest in the pack, but that didn't mean she was nice or kind. I didn’t like her. I had this feeling that she was up to no good. And because I felt so annoyed, I grabbed a bottle of wine from a nearby table and made several swigs, trying to drown my feelings in the smoothness of the alcohol. Some gave me a judging look, and Alpha Edison, upon seeing my behavior, suddenly grabbed my arm and led me out of the reception hall towards the corridor to the main door of the mansion.
• “Are you trying to embarrass me in front of everyone, hybrid? ”He hissed without looking at me, but his grip was tight against my skinny arm, making me grimace.
