Chapter 16 The Watchers

• The shadows along the upper corridor seemed to breathe with malevolent life as a cloaked figure pressed closer to the ornate pillar. From this vantage point, they had an unobstructed view of the Alpha's study door, and more importantly, they could hear fragments of the heated conversation taking place within.
• Dr. Bellamy's voice carried through the heavy oak, muffled but discernible to supernatural hearing: "...found traces of a substance... rare poison... hadn't been documented for generations..."
• The eavesdropper's grip tightened on the stone column, knuckles white beneath black gloves. This was worse than they had feared. Much worse.
