• Isabel stirred and slowly woke up. She lay on the bed, surprised that she had managed to sleep despite the restless thoughts swirling in her mind last night. Although she didn't sleep soundly or peacefully, it was enough to help her push through the day.
• She rolled onto her side, facing the window. The sun had risen to the horizon, seeping through the curtains. She sighed and tried to picture what her mother would be doing now. Would she be in the kitchen preparing breakfast or mourning because Isabel hadn't been found?
• Suddenly, a knock landed on the door. Isabel hissed under her breath. Whoever it was knocked like she could just stroll over and unlock the door.
