Chapter 2 A New Life

• LUNA’s POV
• I was speechless, and clueless, my whole body was numb.
• “Jordan, say something”
• I pulled his hands, but he pushed me away slightly.
• “You agreed to this, Luna. I had no other choice I had to call the police, I am sorry, but I will do my best to get you out”
• Why was he sounding like he was consoling me for a crime I committed?
• Weird.
• “Mrs. Luna, you are under arrest for possession of narcotics and human trafficking”
• “Excu.. Excuse me.. W.. What?”
• My vision grew foggy and I saw myself in the station in handcuffs without anyone by my side.

• A few days later I found myself in the courtroom in front of a judge after qqqJordan had promised me it would not get to that.
• When I saw Jordan walk into the courtroom I felt a bit of relaxation, but he was accompanied by his secretary, and her face always gave me the icks.
• “Will the witness come to the stand”
• The judge requested and to my surprise, my husband stood up and I was left baffled.
• After he took an oath with the Bible he proceeded without looking at my face.
• “I am Luna’s husband or should I say I was,” he buried his face in his palms and began shedding tears. I was more confused about what was going on, and about what he just said. I was fighting hard to control my tears.
• “I had no idea how she got herself wrapped up in such a mess,” he looked at my face and then back at the judge. “I have always given her everything she wanted, but I would have never thought she would repay me this way by using my hotel as her place for illegal businesses. Why Luna? Why?!”
• The words were stuck in my throat. All I could do was laugh while tears poured down my eyes. It felt as if I was watching a prank show, because what was going on?!
• He left the stand and his secretary who had always hated me came on the stand, and I never expected to hear anything better from her. I turned around, my eyes glued to Jordan. He was still shedding tears while some of the people in the crowd consoled him.
• “Mrs Luna would sometimes come to the hotel when the boss was not around and she would come with some men. I never questioned her because she is my boss's wife, but I had no idea..”, she skipped and then stared at my face like she was trying to reconsider her last words. “I had no idea she was planning on destroying my boss”
• “Mrs Luna, Do you have anything to say for yourself? We have evidence, tapes, and even records to prove all the allegations placed on you”
• I fell on my feet with tears rushing out from my eyes. I was weak, I had never stood up for myself before. Jordan always had my back, but he just stabbed me very deep in the heart.
• “The court finds Mrs Luna guilty of all charges, and you are hereby sentenced to 10 years in prison”
• On my way out of the courtroom, Jordan threw a divorce paper to my face, and he walked away without waiting for me to say a word. Before I could get into the police van a car came with speed and hit me to the ground.

• When I opened my eyes after much struggle I saw two doctors standing beside me with files. Both hands and legs were handcuffed to the bed like a criminal.
• “You are awake. We ran some checks and found that you are 3 weeks pregnant, congratulations”
• No, no, no! That can not be! Not at this time! Without saying a word I began shedding tears again heavily this time around. My life had taken a very drastic turn in just a few days!

• Five years later
• “All inmates stand at the front to collect your belongings before leaving”
• One of the officers screamed at all the inmates being released.
• “Remember what I told you, Luna, You are no longer Luna Brooks, You are now Lena Hendricks! Remember what I told you, right? With great names come great responsibilities. Now go”
• I held Mrs. Lena’s hands and kissed them, but this time around I didn't shed a single tear, because I was reborn.
• I was no longer the naive, and dumb Luna of five years ago, Prison and a heart full of revenge had made me tougher.
• I walked outside the prison, looked up at the sun, and inhaled the fresh air.
• I saw a white sleek Mercedes Benz coming my way, and I was more than happy because I knew who was inside of it.
• When the car got in front of me the door opened and she came out of it. I hugged her tightly and she caressed my shoulders.
• “You have done well, Luna, I mean Lena. Mrs Lena told me everything, now a new world awaits you, and your daughter”
• “I knew I could count on you, Marina”
• She held my hand and we stepped into the car, and we drove away from the prison. I turned my head to take a glance at the place where a new me was born.
• Marina drew my attention when she held my hand.
• “Everything is set, do you think you are ready for this? Mrs Lena said you don't need to rush yourself”
• “I have been waiting for 5 years for this, I am confident in myself that I am more than ready”
• “Your husband’s business has been going well. Well, is an understatement, it has been better..”
• “Firstly, Ex-husband, and secondly it is always better when people do not know what is coming to them. Trust me”
• I looked outside the window and braced myself because it was not going to be easy especially with my new identity thereby inheriting old and new enemies.
