Chapter 3 Runaway Prisoner
- Ava Morales
- I stood up. I felt like my body was sore. I made attempts to stand up, only to be welcomed by excruciating pain down there. I groaned, searching for anyone in the room, but I couldn't seem to find anyone. I closed my eyes due to the splitting headache I felt, and that was when the blurry memory of what happened yesterday occurred. I can't recall who it was, but I recalled the way I was the one begging and aching my body for more.
- I decided to take a shower. When I was done, I took steady strides outside the bathroom, but I was rather welcomed by the presence of Ethan. His fists were clenched when he saw me, and his gaze was intense as he noticed my bed, which was covered with stains of blood.
- "What happened here?" He asked. I closed my eyes, trying to recall what happened yesterday. My vision was blurry yesterday, so I couldn't recall, and the room was dark. I could recall the intensity of the moment and the way he had been so gentle; he treated me like a queen with his touch. I thought it was Ethan.
- 'If it wasn't Ethan, then who was it?"
- I balled my hands into tight fists as I walked closer to him. "I thought you would be happy at the fact I'm awake, but rather you are asking me this sort of question," I asked, not knowing where I got the confidence.
- "Who the hell were you with last night, you piece of whore?" he growled.
- I clenched my hand in a tight fist. I was overwhelmed by the thought of him calling me a whore. I didn't know when I landed a tight slap on his cheeks. He looked infuriated by my actions; it was clear he was pissed. I could see his eyes sparkle, and I knew I had summoned his wolf, which was begging to be let out. I slowly started moving backward. I was frightened.
- "Jariel!" He called.
- Jariel walked in as he bowed down in front of the alpha. "Yes, Alpha, you called for me."
- "Lock this whore in the pack's cell now." He commanded with a deep, husky voice. I shook my head violently and said, "No, you can't do this. I don't mean to slap you; it was my instinct, please." I begged.
- My cries were not heard after several pleas. I am now seated on the bare floor, my heart pounding so fast. Different thoughts ran through my mind; the thought of lurking danger made me feel even more scared.
- Two months went down the drain; no one was coming to save me. I am here all alone, feeling the irking fear curled in my skin. The urge to gag was there. I noticed that my tummy was growing. I was feeling sick. I don't know what was wrong with me, but my instincts were telling me that I was pregnant.
- I was hoping someone would come to save me, but no one did. I hoped and prayed to the moon goddess to change the alpha to spare me, but he never came.
- After three more days, I felt the door crack open. I turned to see who it was. I was shocked when I noticed Nathalie, who hurriedly unlocked the door.
- "Hurry, follow me; let me take you far away from here." She told me.
- I didn't trust her, but at this moment, I am desperate, and I don't care who is helping me. I weakly crawled to the door as she managed to direct me out of the pack territories. When we were far enough from the park territories, she turned to look at me with a sad expression.
- "Take these clothes and shoes, and this is your ticket for you to fly off to New York."
- My voice trembled, and my eyes glistened with tears. "Why are you helping me, Nathalie? I don't think I have ever done anything to deserve this." I appreciated.
- "There is no time for this; now run, run as far as you can; I don't want you to be caught by the alpha again." I listened to her, and I started running. I ran as far as my feet could take me. I stopped when I felt the urge to gag again. My belly hurt, my feet were swollen, and I don't think I can go any further.
- I was about to give up. I just wanted to rest. Then I heard the sound of racing cars. I knew then that I was close to a tarred road. With the little strength I had, I managed to run further to the tarred roads. But then I heard the sound of growls, and I could smell the strong scent of a wolf. I became terrified. I knew I had to run further, but I couldn't because I was exhausted.
- With the little strength I had, I tried to run faster, but it was not fast enough.
- "There she is; she is escaping." I could hear the voice of Chris, and I knew that I was about to be caught. There was no chance of escaping. My wolf, who had been asleep for a long time, told me to run faster. I heeded the instructions, and I managed to increase my speed. Finally, I was on the tarred road, but there was no evident car on the road. I realized from them that I'd be caught sooner or later.
- Minutes went by, and that was when I noticed three approaching wolves. They were coming towards me, and my heartbeat palpitated.
- A car stopped when he saw me standing by the pedestrian. He brought down his mirror as he offered me a lift, and I immediately nodded as I swiftly shoved myself into the car.
- I let out a deep sigh because I was finally free from Ethan. I have always wished to be free from him so I could safely bring up my kids and be safe from harm.
- He turned to look at me before introducing himself by saying, "I am Josh, Nathalie's cousin. I'll help you have a safe flight to New York because we have to protect your baby at all costs."
- "How did you know about my baby?" I asked, looking baffled.
- "Let's just say it's our little secret."
