Chapter 13 Thirteen
- The marble floors feel cool beneath my bare feet as I make my way toward the kitchen.
- I haven’t seen Dante today, he’s been working all day. After last night's conversation, I'm not sure what to expect when I see him again. The memory of his hands on my back, his confessions about his wife, lingers in my mind like a half-remembered dream.
- I stop at the doorway when I hear voices inside. Dante stands with his back to me, speaking to Marco, his executive assistant. Marco's dark suit is as crisp as always, his posture rigid.
