Chapter 8

  • "I have an idea. Will you stop by our pack house, or will we have to go to yours?" I inquired.
  • "Oh, II didn't mean, well, I just thought nevermind," Scott mumbled.
  • "This will be fantastic. Maybe you could come to the pack house or we could go to the movies. We can find something to watch," I exclaimed, giddy.
  • "I would love that," he said.
  • "Really smooth, Jacob," Brett smirked.
  • We had history class after lunch. Simon pulled me aside on the way and said, "You know you can't go on this date, don't you?"
  • "What are you on about?" It isn't a date. It's just two friends having a good time. Besides, you're the one who said I had to give it my all, and that's exactly what I'm doing," I became agitated.
  • "You are not going anywhere alone with Scott," he said, his teeth clenched.
  • "Maybe we can just meet up at the pack house," I thought to myself.
  • "That's something I think you should discuss with Alpha Viktor," Simon grumbled.
  • "I will," I said as I walked away.
  • So, what was his issue? If I had my way, he'd be the only person I dated.
  • Nonetheless, he has a negative attitude toward doing what he has asked me to do. This was totally unjust.
  • History class dragged on and on. The teacher went on and on about events I was already familiar with. We made our way down to the training field to meet Alpha Viktor when the bell finally rang.
  • He was waving us over in the middle of the field.
  • "We usually train with our wolves on Thursdays, so everyone is over in the woods right now." Gabriella, show me what you've got. "I want you to punch," he said, raising his hands.
  • Gabriella approached him, swung and missed, and then stood there giggling. "Diana, let's see what you've got."
  • I didn't fare much better than Gabriella, who threw a punch and managed to strike his hand, but it was only a tap. Then he gave me a lecture on my stance, posture, and punching technique. He showed us how to punch a jab, which we practiced several times until he decided we were good enough.
  • "I'd like to see how you guys defend yourselves next." I'm going to charge at you and grab you. I want you to do anything you can to avoid me."
  • When he chased Gabrielle, she ran screaming. He grabbed her in an instant, and she reveled in his arms until he dropped her. When it was my turn, I had no idea what to do, so I simply dropped my entire body weight. He struggled to hold me before scooping me up and carrying me away. I tried kicking him, but he was too powerful.
  • "This is not going to work, ladies," he grumbled. "You both require intensive training. I'll make a training plan for the next two weeks. At that point, I'll reassess you and proceed from there. You'll be assisting one of my pack warriors.
  • Seth is his name, and I have complete faith in him. You'll be in capable hands.
  • "Awww, you're not going to train us, Alpha?" Gabriella inquired, her lips pursed and her lashes batting.
  • "No, I need to get back to my training duties." You two can shower and then join us by the forest to see how we train our wolves. "We meet just beyond the dorms," he explained, pointing to three tall buildings in the distance. He turned and began walking away from us.
  • "Alpha Viktor, can I talk to you for a second?" I inquired as I pursued him.
  • "Of course, what's on your mind," he said as he turned to face me.
  • "Do we have to participate in shifting training?" Wringing my hands, I inquired.
  • "We'll get there eventually." Why? Is there a problem with that?" he asked, his brow furrowed.
  • "In a way. "You see, I'm not eighteen yet, and I won't get my wolf until next month, so even with shifting training, I'll be behind," I worried.
  • "What do you mean you still haven't gotten your wolf?" Outraged, he inquired. "Most people get their wolves around the age of thirteen."
  • "I'm a member of the royal family." "We don't get our wolves until we're eighteen," I explained, struggling to keep my head up.
  • "That's correct. Okay, I'll see what I can do," he thought clearly.
  • "One more thing." "Do you mind if I had a date at the pack house this weekend?" I asked quickly.
  • "A date? "And with whom?" He inquired.
  • "Along with Scott Jacob." He's the leader of the Blue Moon pack."
  • "I recognize him. That's all right. Simply stay on the lower floors."
  • "Thank you, Alpha Viktor!" I said this while bouncing on the spot. "I swear I'll be on my best behavior."
  • "I'll see you tonight at dinner," he said as he turned away from me.
  • I dashed away before he could change his mind. As I entered the ladies' changing room, Gabriella was already in the shower. I entered the shower and informed her of my conversation with Alpha Viktor.
  • "My wolf isn't white," she complained.
  • "Of course not," you say. "You're related by marriage," I rolled my eyes.
  • "Well, I'm glad you can have your date," she explained. "Perhaps you can help me get Alpha Viktor now."
  • "I'm not going to help you pursue a man who's practically married!" I exploded.
  • "There's no need to get snippy. "I can do it by myself," she smiled.
  • "What, after all, is your attraction to Alpha Viktor?" I inquired.
  • "What is there not to like?" "He's handsome, strong, intelligent, and funny," she said.
  • "I suppose. "Though I have no idea where you got funny," I admitted. "Since you don't mind breaking up couples, there are six other Alphas to choose from."
  • "All of those Alphas are boys." "I'm looking for a man," she smirked.
  • "You wouldn't know what to do with a man," I pointed out.
  • "Oh, but I'm willing to learn," she winked.
  • "Gross," I exclaimed.
  • "You have no idea what you're talking about." "It all comes down to one thing," she explained.
