Chapter 6
- "Brett, right?" Warren asked.
- "Future alpha of the Red River pack," he said with a bow. Sofia went to kick me under the table, but she kicked Scott instead, which made Scott wince. "I didn't get your names all."
- Brett shook hands with each of us as Brett introduced us all. He sat down next to Sofia, across from me.
- He asked me, "How do you like school so far?"
- "So far, so good," I said, adding that I was nervous about training.
- He asked, "Why?"
- "I've never trained before," I said quietly, but of course werewolves can hear it.
- Scott did a spit take when he sprayed Sprite on Sofia. I felt so bad about myself. I knew this was going to come up, but I didn't know what to say.
- "Diana hasn't been given permission to train. Her parents said no because they wanted her to marry well. "Our Alpha listens to what they want," Simon said, so I didn't have to answer.
- Alpha Viktor won't go for that. He thinks that training is the key to a well-rounded person, as he says," Scott said.
- "You should always put your training first," Brett told him.
- "Do you think math can be used against your opponents?" Scott inquired.
- Brett said, "Here's a lesson in history: bad guys kill every day."
- "Oh, and my favorite is, 'A pint of sweat will save a gallon of blood,'" Scott said. "But I think he got that from General Patton.
- Rachel said with stars in her eyes, "I think I'll get along with this Alpha."
- "He sounds like a tool to me," Gabriella said, scrunching up her nose.
- Brett told Diana, "Don't worry, Alpha Viktor will work with you no matter what level you are."
- That afternoon, classes were pretty dull. Most of the material has already been taught to me in my private tutoring. Of course, I didn't say it. Why make things harder when I didn't care about school?
- They have already met two of this school's six Alphas. Alpha Viktor wasn't on the list because he was already taken. I don't want any of that trouble. I hoped that the Moon Goddess wouldn't match me with someone who was already taken. Right?
- Gabriella and I were given a break by Alpha Lucien until Alpha Viktor could figure out how good we were.
- So, while everyone else trained, we had nothing to do. We chose to watch the game from the stands.
- Gabriella batted her eyelashes and said, "I got some information about the other alphas."
- "Oh? I asked, "What have you heard?" because I was ready for the gossip.
- "Well, there's Adam, Zander, Trent, and William, plus the two people we've already met.
- Trent and William both have serious relationships, but Adam and Zander are both single. Brett also has a serious partner. She said with a smile, "Scott is single."
- I asked, "Who in high school is really in a relationship?"
- She shrugged and said, "Well, William and his girlfriend have been together for more than three years, and Trent for two." "Besides, it looks like you already have Scott in mind."
- "Scott is nice, but I just met him. I'd be crazy to choose him based on how little we've talked." I said.
- "Well, he seems to meet all the requirements. It is the very first day. "The final choice won't be made for a long time," she said as she watched Scott warm up.
- "He does, doesn't he? I said, "Maybe it's time for me to rethink what I want in a partner." I twisted my hair.
- "What? Are you having second thoughts now?" Gabriella asked.
- "That's not it. I just thought it was kind of silly," I said.
- "Lists are ridiculous. You should just do what feels right. How do you feel about Scott right now, if you had to say?" She looked at me very closely and asked.
- "I think he's nice and funny, but are those the things I really need in a partner?" I said, avoiding her eyes.
- "You didn't say how handsome he is," she told him.
- "Well, that is a must," I said with a laugh.
- "Did you read any of the stories I sent you?" She did.
- "No, not yet. "I was going to look at them tonight," I told her to make her stop bothering me.
- "Ugh, why do we spend so much time trying to find you a man? "But what about me?
- She was sad.
- "But what would be on your list?" I asked.
- "No. Not any. "All I want is someone who treats me like a queen," she said.
- "I think you have been spending too much time with my mother," I told him.
- "Who wouldn't want to be treated like a Queen. She said, "Of course, that doesn't mean anything to you."
- Simon ran over and asked, "What doesn't mean anything to Diana?"
- "Getting treated like a Queen. She said with a laugh, "For her, it's just being treated like her."
- "Diana, the Princess. Simon said, "She's pretty well-known."
- "Simon, let me stop you there. I didn't want to hear about history again, so I rolled my eyes.
- "I wasn't going to-" he began, but I cut him off.
- "Oh yeah, encyclopedia," he said.
- Simon said, "That was a low blow," and he ran his hands through his hair. I found Simon to be very attractive, and right now, when he was sweating and in his workout clothes, he was delicious.
- "Simon, I think you should finish training," I told him while looking away.
- "We're all done. I just came to tell you that we're going to shower and then leave."
- As Simon ran back into the training building, we watched.
- I sighing. "I wish Simon wasn't gay. I wouldn't need to keep looking.
- Gabriella scrunched up her nose and asked, "What makes you think he's gay?"
- "He told me." I said.
- She asked, "When?"
- "Like one, two, or no, three years ago." I said, putting my fingers together.
- "I don't know what Simon told you or why, but he is definitely not gay," she said with a smug look. "Last year, I slept with him. Even though he was drunk, a gay man wouldn't kiss a woman that way.
- "Gabriella, you didn't! I was shocked and said, "Simon is so not your type." "What happened?"
- "For the French delegates, it happened at that ball. He followed you around like a puppy who missed its owner, and I felt bad for him. After we got drunk, I kissed him. No big deal," she said, shrugging.
- "It's not like he follows me around like a dog. He is my guide. He helps me get through all those boring talks. I said, "I can't believe you kissed him.
- "I would do it again ten times out of ten. Unless you don't want me to, of course. "Just say the word," she said, blinking her eyes and trying to look innocent.
- "Simon can kiss anyone he wants to. Let's just go," I said, standing up.
- I couldn't stop thinking about what she had said as we walked to the training building. Was Simon on the level? How did I get it wrong? Why hasn't he ever kissed me? I had to get in touch with him.
- I didn't say anything the whole way home. I didn't feel like talking. I was really hurt by what I learned about Simon. I waited until I was alone with him.
- "Simon, we need to talk," I said.
- Sure. "About what?" He asked, smiling.
- "Did you kiss Gabriella?" I asked.
- He asked in surprise, "What?" "When?"
- "When we had the French delegation over. Did you get drunk and kiss Gabriella?"
- "Oh my God, was that her? He scratched the back of his neck and asked. "I guess I did. Gross."
- "I thought you were gay," I said in an accusatory way.
- He asked, "Why would you think that?"
- "Because you told me you were," I replied.
- "I've never said that," he said.
