Chapter 71

• Ezra James Murphy was born at 8 pounds, 9 ounces after hours of labor and pushing. He was 21 inches tall. He was my chubby little baby. Viktor was a very proud father. In celebration, he and his men all smoked stogies, which made me sick.
• We brought Ezra home and placed him in the bassinet in our room until he slept through the night. I enjoyed the finest sleep of my life that night, dreaming of songbirds and diapers.
