Chapter 70 Sixty-nine

  • Immediate continuation of the previous chapter.
  • Two weeks ago she attended a book signing and Dominic was at her side. Not as a friend, not as anything in particular, simply because it was his duty because he was his publisher. Odette was unable to accompany him, and Dominic took her place. It went well, nothing out of the ordinary. And it frustrated him. He didn't know how much longer he could keep disguising the emotions every time he had Dominic by his side, every time he saw him blend so damn well into his life. Dominic was adjusting to her pace as long as he didn't have Odette swarming around. And no, it wasn't like he employed her wiles, not at all. He was loose, he was genuine, he was real, he was fluent, and he even sporadically laughed, and it was all because of Dominic.
  • And maybe it scared him; in fact, it terrified him. He didn't want to depend on anyone because he was free, but what should he do to curb the feelings? What methods should he use to imprison the emotions? The dismal thing about the situation was that Odette was aware of everything because he trusted her. She was his best friend, after all. The strange thing was that with Odette, he could separate things, but with Dominic, it was a tremendous mess of emotions, of sensations, and he was reaching the limit.
