Chapter 8 Maddison New Life Was Something Else

  • Chapter eight
  • A few months later, I ran out of cash. I kept planning to look into investment options, but I never got round to it. Living in Angel's house was a completely different experience from everything I had known. All we did was party and smoke weed. We slept all day and partied all night.
  • Gradually, depression set in, and started thinking of other ways to get money. I had grown accustomed to a luxury lifestyle I could not afford. All I could think is to get the next man to fill Xander's spot, a man who can take care of me. Angel told me I was beautiful and would be easy, but 5 months later, I still had nobody to replace Xander. I was deeply hurt inside.
  • We turned up from club to clubhouse party to house party, beach house to beach house, and my popularity in Los Angeles social circle grew rapidly. Nobody knew anything about me or my life but they wanted to be friends with me anyway. Many just wanted to be affiliated with a new girl on the scene. I figured that the boys at my age were a total waste of my time.
  • They all wanted me for bragging rights, and I would be damned if I let some boys take me as a fool. I turned down every single invite for a date. I refused to give any of the boys I was meeting a chance to get to know the real me until the day Angel mentioned that a boy named Ethan was seriously interested in me.
  • "Can I give him your number? Babe, he is dying to talk to you".
  • "I'm not interested, Angle," I said wearily.
  • "I don't want a boy".
  • "Maddison, he's single, he's rich for his age, and the best part? He's not stingy. I mean, he's not a "wash guy" at all."
  • "Thanks, but I would rather not. Don't give him my number."
  • "Maddison, please give him a chance. I need you to trust me on this one."
  • All week, Angle begged me to give him a little attention.
  • Eventually, I gave him and I agreed to take his call. I saved his number so I would know when he called; I was at a point where I didn't take calls from unknown numbers.
  • I was lying on the bed with Angle when Ethan called.
  • "Hello?
  • "Hi, I got your number from Angle. My name is Ethan."
  • "Yeah, I know. What up?" I asked nonchalantly.
  • "Nothing much, are you free from brunch on Sunday?"
  • "Is okay cool' 'yes'?
  • "Yeah" I replied, I knew he could hear the attitude in my voice but I couldn't help it.
  • To be frank, I was not interested in Ethan at all. Judging from the way the boys in my social circle acted and the things they did, I assumed he just wanted sex with me and nothing else.
  • I knew from experience that I did not have to sell myself to a man to get something out of him. If a man likes you he will do anything for you and you won't have to do anything in return. So I planned to use Ethan till he got tired of chasing me or doing things for me. I promise myself I would not have sex with him unless we began a committed relationship.
  • On Saturday afternoon, he asked for my address and I send It to him through a message. In the evening, I got a call from a dispatch rider saying he had items to deliver to me. I didn't order anything, so I figured whatever the items were, Ethan probably sent them.
  • The Package came and I opened it to find a beautiful gold dress with Crystal stone from the house of CB. And a pair of Sophia Webster shoes with a note that says.
  • Be ready by 11 am
  • XO, Ethan
  • "Angle, this your friend is trying to impress me. Is it by designer?" I hissed and stuffed the gifts back into the package.
  • Angle sighed. "Just be nice, those shoes are expensive!"
  • "Please it's not shoes and dresses that are my problem" I restored.
  • I sent Ethan a text message.
  • Me.Thanks for the gift. I will be there by 11 am.
  • He replied immediately.
  • Ethan: All pressure is mine.
  • A week went by in a blur. I found myself looking forward to our date, not because of Ethan himself, but just for a change in my routine. I was so bored with my depressing lifestyle in Angle's house that I felt a mild enthusiasm by the time Sunday finally came. I had my make-up done and put on the dress Ethan got for me. It was perfect,
  • And I realized they must have been watching me closely, or Angle helped him out. He arrived to pick me up at exactly 11 am, in a white Bentley continental. I was surprised and turned around at the door.
  • "Angle, I didn't know his money was this long", I whispered.
  • "She laughed. "Babe, learn to trust me. Bye, have fun!"
  • I waved at her as she shut the door behind me, and walked the short distance to the car. He was holding the passenger door open for me.
  • "Hi," I said as I slid into the seat. The scene of his perfume caressed my nostrils, I tried to figure out what it was as he walked around and entered the driver's seat.
  • "Hi, Maddison. I have been looking forward to this for a long time."
  • I smiled and said nothing. He put on some music and drove off.
  • He took me to a hotel in freehand and I was blown away by his charm. Ethan was a perfect gentleman. He was polite to everyone from the valet boy at the car park, to the waitress who served us. I had been around rich kids in Los Angeles long enough to know that his behavior is quite usual.
  • Was this an act?
  • I asked myself this question all through our date. Ethan was well mannered, handsome, clearly financially stable, and a great communicator. We had the best conversation over a sumptuous meal. It was too one-sided to be called a conversation because I did more of the talking. He told me about herself and I volunteered next to nothing about myself.
  • I didn't mind. I enjoy listening to him, I wasn't ready to let anyone get to know me yet.
  • He was 26 yrs old, and the only child of his parents. His dad was a politician, and his mum died when he was young. He worked with one of the top law firms in the country. We didn't notice the time go by as he shared his childhood memories and made me laugh by recounting his experiences as a teenager. We finished our meal, talked some more, and then drove back home.
  • "I had a nice time, thanks," I said as he parked in front of the house.
  • "The pressure was all mine," he replied.
  • He came around to my side and opened the door for me. "Can we go out again during the week?"
  • "Well…"
  • "Please, I need to see you again Maddison."
  • "Okay, I will let you know when. Enjoy the rest of your day," I said, turning around quickly to hide my wild smile. As I walked to Angle's front door, I knew Ethan was still watching me, so I swung my hips slowly, just for the fun of it. It felt great to be desired again.
  • And so it began. We went on countless dates, I met his friends, and he spoiled me with attention and affection. Everything was going so well, it was so unreal. I was determined to stick to my decision not to have sex with Ethan, when though we have been seeing each other for two months now. We made out once in a while, and that was all my boundaries would allow.
  • Yet, Ethan did not change his behavior. He was really sweet to me, I never asked him for money but he would send cash occasionally; not the millions I was used to, but decent hundreds. He brought me unexpected designer shoes, bags, and perfumes. Before I knew it I started catching feelings for him. He never pressured me for sex or anything, and after sex years of going on numerous dates and hangouts, he asked me to be his girlfriend officially. I said yes as I have grown fond of him and I enjoyed what we had going on.
  • A week later, I woke up to a fake page dedicated to our relationship.
  • The person behind the page said mean things, warning me to stay away from Ethan because he was going to hurt me just like he did to every other girl before me.
  • Confused about what I had just seen, I showed Ethan the page, expecting him to take it seriously, but instead, he brushed it off.
  • "It's probably a girl who had a crush on me," he said. You shouldn't pay attention to such things."
  • I wasn't convinced, but it was too late to back out of the relationship over mere warnings which could be lies from someone who couldn't even show her face and had to hide behind a fake page. I was already used to Ethan, he made me happy effortlessly, and we had an excellent vibe. What more could I ask for?
