Chapter 7 Maddison Drop Out

  • Chapter seven.
  • It was on weekends, and Maddison decided to visit Xander. She was afraid to meet him face to face because she knew the outcome of what she did.
  • When I finally got there, she met the housemaids and asked Xander but they told her that he is not home and she sat in the sitting room and waited for Xander to return.
  • She had many thoughts in her mind, what could be the outcome of this, or would he change his mind on me, to see my face to face?
  • Could he ask me out of his house for being ungrateful?"
  • Xander walked in and saw Maddison in the sitting room, he couldn't believe that after all Maddison said to him on the phone that she would have the heart to visit him in his house.
  • "Good afternoon, Xande," she said.
  • "What are you doing here Maddison?" he asked.
  • "I'm sorry for being ungrateful," Maddison said. but we need to talk, just give me a few minutes of your time. Let's talk.
  • "Maddison said to Xander that he couldn't bear living in that school, because of the type of life she is living, and again she would like to start up a business.
  • "Are you listening to yourself?"
  • "How can you even stand here and say this to me?
  • Are you seriously saying this to my face that you are throwing your education aside?
  • After everything? What has happened to you, Maddison? Answer me!" He screamed at me In disappointment.
  • "Xander, please calm down, you're upset…"
  • "Of course I'm upset!" He started placing the room. You expect me to just accept that you have wasted my money, my time, and my affection? Is this how you repay my love?"
  • "I'm so sorry, so sorry. I just can't cope with my school anymore, and I had to be honest with you instead of allowing you to spend more money on my education. Presently, having a degree isn't the only way to succeed in life. There are other things I can do apart from getting a degree, like….
  • He swiftly closed the distance between us and placed his hand over my mouth, cutting me off.
  • "Maddison, please stop. You can't be serious."
  • He knelt beside me, and I realized that his hand was shaking.
  • "Maddison, I'm begging you. Please, please go back to school. Look, if this is about the exam you missed, if you're ashamed to be behind your mates, you can go and study outside the country. I will arrange it.
  • "You want to send ?" Me to aboard
  • "Yes you can go anywhere you want as long as it is school."
  • "But I am no longer interested in school, that's what I have been trying to explain to you" said.
  • "Wow, Maddison," he said as he stood up and started scratching his head. "What do you want?"
  • "I need a timeout, "I blurted, suddenly tired of feeling like I was in bondage.
  • He looked at me as though I slapped him. He was speechless for a while, and I watched as he looked off, the shock on his face gave way to disgust.
  • "Maddison, don't ever come to my house again. And never call my phone again."
  • "Xander… " I wanted to say something, but I didn't know what to say.
  • "Ungrateful child" he said. "Please leave now.
  • I picked up my bag and walked out of his house. As soon as I drove out, I parked beside the fence and took out my phone.
  • Angel listened quietly as I told her what had happened. Don't worry babe you can live with me, she said.
  • That was a small comfort, even though I was sure I didn't want to go back to school anymore, I felt as though I was dying. I didn't want to lose Xander. I wasn't sure I wanted a life with him. I wanted to be free but also wanted to be with him. It was a total mess.
  • As I sat in the car sobbing, a credit alert came in. It was $ 2 million from Xander. Just as I started wondering whether he had changed his mind, my phone rang. I stopped crying as soon as I saw his name on the screen. I had him back, everything will go back to normal!
  • "Hello my love" I said.
  • "There is no need for that, Maddison, it's over between us."
  • It was my turn to be shocked. "But you…."
  • "I'm still in love with you, but I will be fine. I wish you followed my instincts from the beginning. Anyway, that life. I wish you well. The money I sent to you is a farewell token. I hope some of the Maddison I knew is still in there somewhere, and she is smart enough to turn the token into more. Take care".
  • He ended the call, and I wept still I had no tears to weep. You knew he never spoke lightly. He was a man of his word. How could I ever get him to forgive me? I thought of asking Andrea to help me beg him, but I was too ashamed to let her know what I had done, I knew he wouldn't even listen to her even though she tried.
  • Suddenly, I remembered what had happened when we first met. He had said I should never call his number again, but I had given him a week and he ended up giving me an audience. Fresh Hope surged through me, energizing me once again. I will give him a week and then call him, I decided as I drove off. I would win him back again.
  • That phone call turned out to be our last. I gave him a week as I had planned, and called Xander. It rang and rang, but he didn't pick up. All through the day, I sent him a text message begging him to give me an audience. He never responded. The following day I called again, and couldn't get through.
  • "Maybe he has blocked you," Angle said.
  • "You think so?"
  • "It's possible. Here, try using my phone" Angle said.
  • I punched his number in quickly and waited as it rang.
  • "Hello, "he said.
  • " Xander, my love, it me…"
  • He ended the call immediately and I crumpled to the floor. As Angle pulled me up and consoled me, I knew instinctively that it was truly over, yet I was unwilling to accept the truth or give up on myself.
  • Days turned into weeks, and his number never rang again. I went on a quest for him, aching to beg him and promise to go back to school, but it was too late.
  • I had no means of reaching him. I felt incredibly stupid and helpless when I realized that I don't even know his email address.
  • I called the stewards and the drivers, but they hung up as soon as they realized that I was the one. I tried to see him at home, but I couldn't get past the estate security, much less reach his house. His privacy rule meant I was never introduced to any of his friends, and I didn't know any of his family members either. Everywhere I turned, I met a dead end. I was distressed. Have I lost Xander forever?
