Chapter 7
- She collided into me first small, warm, trembling. I could feel her breath, quick and uneven, against my neck. She pushed at my chest as if she couldn’t decide whether to flee or burrow closer, and then she gnawed lightly at my cheek like a young animal that did not know how to express itself except through touch.
- I shut my eyes. My pulse was not as steady as I would have liked. I threaded my fingers through her hair soft, a little tangled and asked huskily,
- “What’s your name?”
