• After watching Naomi’s performance, Kenzo found himself uncharacteristically unfocused. The image of her, her fluid movement, her striking silhouette, the melancholy woven into every gesture lingered in his mind like a stubborn echo. What man wouldn’t appreciate beauty? And Naomi was not just beautiful she was devastatingly so.
• Naomi understood him far too well. She knew he was fiercely filial, devoted to the Weber family’s entertainment empire, and endlessly attentive to the expectations his mother placed on him. He was a man who had built himself around pressure and obedience. Claire suited that world: an unblemished, gentle background, someone his mother approved of. Naomi, however, represented everything she disliked.
