Chapter 30

• Naomi felt the discomfort coursing through her body begin to fade, as though the fog in her head were slowly peeling away. Her vision steadied. She inhaled shakily, forcing herself to lift her eyes toward the man standing before her a tall gentleman dressed impeccably in a tailored suit.
• “You saved me?” Her voice trembled despite her attempt to steady it. “Thank you.”
• It was the truth someone had intervened, and somehow she had escaped what would have been a nightmare with consequences she dared not imagine. She forced the corners of her lips upward in a brittle imitation of a smile.
