Chapter 493 Our Husband

  • Dominic looked at Lufeng. “Got a problem?” Lufeng drew a deep breath. He knew he’d kicked an iron wall. Even SSS-level fighters were nothing in front of Dominic. This guy was scary strong. He stared hard at Dominic like he wanted to carve his face into memory, then turned on his heel and left without another word. If Lufeng wanted someone dead, he’d never let it go. There were plenty of ways to kill. No need to go head-to-head. Lufeng left, and those rich kids didn’t dare make themselves targets. Afraid Dominic would remember them, they scattered fast. At the entrance, only Yunkai, Dominic, and Zhou Lianqing were left. Yunkai eyed Dominic, nervous and awkward, and forced a smile. “Turns out heroes are born young. Didn’t expect you to be this badass.” “Can I go in?” Dominic said calmly. “Sure, of course.” Yunkai didn’t dare say no now and nodded quickly. Dominic took Zhou Lianqing and walked inside. Watching his back, Yunkai’s eyes flashed with something dark. Zhou Lianqing’s besties were hanging in a big suite—over a dozen people, guys and girls, going wild. When Zhou Lianqing walked in, a lot of them came up to greet her. She had great vibes with people. She grinned. “Guess who I brought?” “Who? Which hottie? Why so mysterious?” “Wow, Lianqing, don’t hog him. Share with the class.” Her girlfriends were all stunners, but they talked with zero pretension. “Our husband, of course!” Zhou Lianqing announced. Dominic stepped in and froze a second at the sight of so many beauties. He didn’t like noisy places, and this one was extra. “Dominic?! That’s Dominic?” “‘National Husband’ Dominic? Wow, Lianqing, you actually got him here!” “Lucky girl.” Zhou Lianqing’s friends swarmed Dominic, starry-eyed like fangirls. Honestly, Dominic wasn’t super famous, but these rich girls watched TV when bored and fell for the general he played. Plenty had been swept away by his presence, so seeing him in the flesh had them giddy. Then a voice cut through the mood. “Dominic? Never heard of him. Compared to my big bro Lufeng, he’s night and day. His looks, his vibe—he’s not even as good as me.” A guy said it. He wasn’t bad-looking—not handsome, but dripping gold and silver like he was loaded. He was also Zhou Lianqing’s friend, a rich kid who followed Lufeng and called him big bro. “Oh, please. Look at you. Do yourself a favor—check a mirror. Fugly. You think you can compare with our husband?” Dominic didn’t say a word. But the rich girls weren’t having it and snapped back. Zhou Lianqing chuckled, remembering how Lufeng’s face had been turned into a pig’s head by Dominic, and couldn’t help laughing out loud. That laugh did it. The guy blew up and barked, “You girls call every man ‘husband.’ Don’t even check what kind of man he is. Wearing flea-market crap. How did he even get in here? Zhou Lianqing, be honest—are you keeping him? Your taste sucks.” “Watch your mouth.” Zhou Lianqing glared at him. “Respect? Respect my ass. Zhou Lianqing, I’ll be straight. I came here for my boss. He’s gonna sleep with you. You should be grateful. And you’re calling some little punk ‘husband’? Hell no.” He stood, grabbed a beer bottle, strode to Dominic, and snarled, “Pretty boy, get on your knees. Or I’ll beat you to death.” The air went awkward. They were all friends. Zhou Lianqing’s besties didn’t know what to say, looking to her for a cue. She was at a loss too. Dominic didn’t bother with the guy. Different leagues—no point. Plus, he didn’t want to wreck Zhou Lianqing’s party. “You all have fun. I’ll take a walk outside,” he said, then turned and left. “Ha. What a damn coward,” the guy sneered at Dominic’s back. “I’m telling you, if that so-called husband sets foot back in this room, I’ll cripple him.” The moment he said it, the girls all glanced at each other, ready to speak up, but thinking about Lufeng, they clammed up. The wild vibe died, replaced by dead silence. Zhou Lianqing regretted coming. Dominic wandered aimlessly. This place had everything—restaurant, karaoke, dance floor—all rolled into one. Everyone here was high-end. Honestly, a prime spot. He found a seat, pulled out his phone, and messaged Gu Qingfeng: “How’s it looking?” Five minutes passed. No reply. Dominic frowned, about to shoot another text, when he noticed two people in a shrouded corner. Something clicked. He angled his head, listening hard. Their voices were tiny, but with his skill, the words came through crystal clear. “How many days left?” “Seven at most. The Zhou family’s done.” “Be careful. They’re connected to Nine-Profound Pavilion.” “Nine-Profound Pavilion? They already dumped them. Relax. We’ll take the Zhou family down.” “Good. We’ve crushed them in business. Their cash flow’s broken. Even selling assets won’t save them. That’s our part done. The rest is up to them.” Who were they? Dominic had his answer—these two weren’t randoms. They were tied to the Zhou family. No way he’d let them walk. He strode over and stopped in front of them. “Who the hell are you? Beat it,” one snapped, face tight with impatience. “Which groups are hitting the Zhou family?” Dominic asked straight. The two traded a look, eyes turning vicious. They pulled daggers from inside their coats, blades cold and bright, ready to strike. But before they could move, Dominic had them pinned. One hand on each man, he kept his voice flat. “Which groups are hitting the Zhou family?” The two glared at him and kept their mouths shut. Dominic wasn’t patient. He pressed harder with his left hand—and crushed the first one dead. He stared at the other. “Talk, or die.” “Talk and I die anyway. See you in hell,” the man spat. His body jerked. Foam spilled from his lips. He died on the spot. Dominic scowled. “Poison?” Looked like the forces trying to wipe out the Zhou family were no joke. He couldn’t wait. He had to meet the family head face-to-face and start turning the tide. With a plan forming, Dominic headed straight back to Zhou Lianqing’s suite.
