  • Dominic wasn’t stupid. His dad had said their family owned ninety-nine gold mines. That meant he had some serious connections here in Sloummont too. Sergeant Gorgeous kneeling to him might well be the family making moves behind the scenes. Credit where it’s due—Dominic was sharp.   • Dominic’s voice went cold. “An apology? You think ‘sorry’ fixes this? Weren’t you the one who laid hands on my wife a while back?”
