• Riven's family were monsters. But I'd always known that. I'd known just what sought of people they were since the night of the accident. Just the look in Riven's eyes as he stared at me that night had convinced me that he wasn't all that human. His mother's eyes had been dead, too.
• But It made me wonder just what had happened to make them so cold that even witnessing something so tragic didn't faze them at all. It made me wonder just how much they went through until they became like that.
