- Amelia was dumbfounded. Whatever she'd expected, it hadn't been this.
- She came out of the study after talking to Dane, looking puzzled and excited at the same time. She went to the staircase, where the first person she saw was Abigail.
- She was standing on the half-landing, almost as if waiting for her, and looked up with a smile.
