- As the crowd around the couple slowly dissipated, Bella felt even more uncomfortable. For a woman who was born into an elite society, Lucille sure wasn’t shy about showing her affection. Vaughn had always been the one to initiate intimacy whenever they were out in public. It was always a kiss, a hug, or hand-holding—nothing too extreme, since the public eye was always on them.
- She admired Lucille somewhat for her boldness, even if the man she was being affectionate with didn’t reciprocate. It was in Isaac’s nature to be nonchalant about things. He remained passive even as his fiancée kissed and hugged him, telling him how much she’d missed him. Bella took that as her cue to get the hell out of there before things escalated. Unfortunately for her, Isaac took notice of her retreating.
- “Come here,” he said, making her stop in her tracks. Lucille’s attention was quickly drawn to the woman who had captured Isaac’s focus.
