Chapter 2 He Is My Boyfriend

  • Chapter - 02
  • Suddenly, Thea felt the urge to rush out of the toilet and see for herself if it was true or not. She wanted to confront Barry. But she could not bring herself to do so. Well, not while everything was going live. What if all of it was nothing but a prank? She desperately wanted it to be. And if that were the case, Thea would end up making things difficult for Barry. Wouldn't she just be stepping on a knife knowingly? So, however anxious Thea's heart was, she still chose to heed her brain.
  • But while Thea decided to wait, her mind was in chaos. She had many questions she wanted answers to, but where should she even start?
  • Should she just go straight forward and ask Barry, 'What are you doing with Amanda?' Or should she go to their table and act as if it was all coincidental?
  • Thea hated this. The fact that she had to doubt Barry made her feel worse than anything in her life. Thea had never ever felt this bad, even when Thea watched girls her age enjoy their lives while she was stuck running between jobs. Because she had a goal, something she was aspiring for... And that goal had Barry in it. But now she was on the verge of questioning that goal itself. And just thinking about the possibilities made Thea feel stiff in her heart.
  • "Thea..." While Thea dreaded over her doubts, Stacy walked in happily, fanning herself with the few notes in her hand.
  • "Girl... Look at the tip I just got," Stacy excitedly told Thea, "You won't believe how much that girl gave me." Stacy could not help but show her teeth.
  • "A hundred dollars... A hundred fucking dollars," Stacy walked up to Thea and waved the money in front of her, "God... We sure have a lot of rich girls at school... Oh, yeah... Did you watch the link I sent you? The girl who booked the restaurant was from our school. You know her. It was Amanda."
  • "... She did that to propose to one of the school hunks, Barry. And you know what?" Stacy was so excited that she continued to blabber and failed to notice that Thea wasn't even responding to her.
  • But as soon as Barry was mentioned, Thea jolted from her thoughts and turned her face towards Stacy.
  • "Where are they?" Thea grabbed Stacy by her shoulders and asked. Her voice was loud enough to scare Stacy.
  • "They? Who?" Stacy tried to get away from Thea and asked. But Thea had no time to explain. She pushed Stacy away and dashed out of the toilet.
  • "What's wrong with her? Is she jealous that I pocketed so much money?" Stacy's lips curled up in disdain. She never thought Thea would be so shallow. Just because she got to serve a customer privately for once?
  • While Stacy was having her own misunderstandings, Thea reached the hall and looked for Barry and Amanda at their table. But no one was there. The two had already left, and only the manager was there, staring satisfactorily at the exit.
  • "Ahh... Thea," the manager happily called out for Thea when she saw her favourite employee pop up. But Thea had no time. She ignored the manager and rushed out of the restaurant, hoping to find Barry.
  • And she finally had her wish fulfilled. Barry was standing right outside the restaurant. And even better, he was all alone. Thea didn't have to worry about walking on eggshells around him anymore.
  • "Barry," Thea called out to her boyfriend in the sweetest way she could. But one could easily feel the hesitation in her voice.
  • Hearing someone call his name, the boy turned. But when he saw Thea, he looked shocked instead of happy. He had never thought in his wildest dreams that he would come across Thea here and now of all times.
  • "Th... Thea?" Trying to confirm that he was not dreaming about her, Barry called her out, "What are you doing here?"
  • "I should be the one asking that," Thea walked up to him and asked, raising her eyebrows, "What are you doing here?"
  • "I... I was here for dinner," the boy said, and he looked down, averting his gaze from her. It was then that he saw her uniform. It was the same as the girl serving them, 'Does she work here?' Barry thought.
  • "With who?" Thea pried further.
  • "With a friend... He needed some help from me," Barry lied.
  • "He? Weren't you with Amanda just now?" Thea caught on to Barry's words and said.
  • 'Shit!' Barry cursed, but he tried not to show on his face, "Did I say he? I meant she... I am still not good with grammar... hahaha... I was with Amanda indeed." Barry tried to cover up his lie.
  • "She was having some girl problem, so she asked me for some tips and all. You know... Since we are in the same class and all," Barry hurriedly cooked up a story.
  • "What about you... You never told me you were working here," Barry changed the topic and asked.
  • "It has not been long," Thea said, "I planned to bring you here for dinner on our anniversary as a surprise. Huh... But instead, you dropped a bomb on me. Nice..." Thea spoke with a meaningful smile.
  • "Thea..." Hearing Thea, Barry had a feeling that she knew everything. How? He had no idea. After all, he did not see her anywhere during the dinner. As for the broadcast, Barry had no idea that such a thing even happened. But however she knew, Thea knew, and there was no running away from it.
  • "Let's not talk about it here," Barry said, "I will explain everything to you. Leave for now," Barry tried to make Thea leave. Amanda was going to be here any second, and he was afraid of her meeting Thea.
  • "Why? Don't want me to meet your new..." Thea felt hurt by how Barry behaved sneakily. She was about to say it out straight without beating around the bush when a loud sound came from behind her.
  • "Grrrr... Grrrr..."
  • Hearing the loud noise, Thea instinctively turned around to look who it was. And soon, a matte black car with a roaring engine stopped in front of them. And it was not just any car, it was the car of Thea's dream. Something she wanted to have but knew she couldn't have.
  • While Thea admired the car, momentarily forgetting about Barry, the door of the car opened, and a girl stepped out of it. It was Amanda. Amanda wanted to make a cool entrance in front of Barry, but when she saw a girl standing with her new boyfriend, she frowned and walked towards them.
  • "Thea?" When Amanda got close enough to see the face of the girl, she recognised Thea, "What are you doing here?"
  • "Nothing... We just met, and we were just talking, nothing else," before Thea could reply, Barry spoke up, "Thea works here."
  • "Ahh... So you work here," Amanda exclaimed in realisation, "I guess you guys are really friends. I have seen you guys in school talking to each other."
  • "Friends... Yes... Yes... Actually, our families have been friends for a long time," Barry nodded hurriedly, agreeing with Amanda, "And because of them... We are... You know... Acquainted."
  • "Great... Well, it's getting late, and I need to drop you home as well," Amanda said as she looked at Thea and smiled, "Don't worry... I will take good care of your friend." Amanda said, with a lot of meaning behind those words.
  • "He is not my friend," Maybe it was the way Amanda spoke, or it was her words, but Thea's blood boiled when she heard Amanda. She didn't want to make a scene in front of everyone, but she could not hold it in any longer.
  • "He is my boyfriend."
