Her heart began to pound against her ribs as she stared at him, feeling utterly bewildered. Did she hear him correctly? It couldn't be. Despite the uncertainty of their previous interactions throughout the night, this felt like a direct proposal. She needed to be certain, to play it cool. She couldn’t afford to embarrass herself any further. But what if she had misinterpreted everything? The thought sent a wave of anxiety coursing through her.
Why would Kaemon be attracted to her? Sienna thought. Until this night, their interactions had been nothing but professional. It had to be her imagination running wild. But what if it wasn’t? Did she want what he was suggesting? The answer hit her like a blow to the face. Yes, she did! She wanted whatever he was proposing, at least to give it a try. She wanted to see if the burning hatred she felt towards him could transform into something more intense, something passionate. But what about the rules? Could she trust Kaemon to keep their secret? She didn’t think she could trust him with anything, but she was willing to take a chance.
“Please don’t tempt me,” she warned him, her heart racing with anticipation, even as she hoped he would ignore her plea. She hoped to hear him say those words again. In response, he took a step closer to her, his presence sending shivers down her spine. As he dipped his head to whisper, his fingers gently sought her waist.
