Chapter 3 Living Hell
- ALLY
- I felt an amount of cold water on my skin and I jumped off the bed or so I thought until I recalled I didn’t sleep on the bed but on the couch.
- I looked around to see Alpha Dimitri with a frown on his face and a maid holding a bucket. So she was the one who poured a bucket of water on me and on the Alpha's demand.
- I quickly looked away from the alpha, suddenly feeling cold.
- “You may leave Laura. You don’t have to come back either,” he said to the maid.
- “Yes Alpha,” she replied before leaving. I shuddered when I heard the sound of the door opening and closing.
- My heart began to race faster than normal from fear that it was just Alpha Dimitri and me who were in the room.
- “You seem to have forgotten where you are at, haven’t you?” He said, his voice lower than usual but as cold as ever.
- “I clearly stated that you should remember where you are at but you slept up till this hour of the day? Where do you think you are? Your father’s house?” He snapped and I shuddered from the sound of his harsh voice.
- I gulped down the lump that formed in my throat painfully, avoiding meeting his eyes and intentionally looking at my toes because I feared what I might see when I saw him.
- “Do I have to remind you of your place?” He grabbed my hair and I squealed.
- “I’m… I’m sorry,” tears formed in my eyes.
- “You are what? You can’t be sorry. Why are you sorry? I’ve told you not to say that to me, haven't I?” He chided.
- “I clearly stated that you are to wake up early and sleep late because that’s punishment for thinking that you can get married to me,” he says.
- Tears streamed down my cheek. I didn’t want any of this either, I wanted to say to him but I couldn’t because I knew that it would only make it worse.
- He let go of my hair. “I don’t want to see your face and I’ve warned you to stop crying in front of me, what the fuck is wrong with you!”
- “Wipe those tears of yours before I force you to,” he ordered and I quickly used my palm to wipe my tears, looking away from him.
- I was shaking in fear. My stomach clenched.
- “The next time I’m forced to wake you up, I’d make sure that you regret it,” he said.
- “Also, clean the room up before I come back. From now on that’s your responsibility and no one else’s, alright?” He said before walking away.
- I heaved a sigh of relief as soon as he left before collapsing to the floor. I cried with my eyes closed, my chest burning and my stomach clenched.
- I didn’t know for how long I was on the floor but the moment I snapped out of it, I got up in fear of not wanting Alpha Dimitri to come back and meet me here as it would not end well.
- I didn’t know what to do or where exactly to start from so I left the room to go meet one of the maids for assistance so I would be able to do the needful.
- Luckily for me, I was able to find a maid as soon as I left the room.
- “Hey,” I said awkwardly.
- “Good morning Luna,” she said, giving me a small bow.
- It felt strange hearing her call me that. I have forgotten that I got married to an Alpha and it was against my will.
- I never thought that I’d get Dimitri to an Alpha and worse a man like Alpha Landon and although we got married yesterday, I didn’t expect to be given that title.
- “What happened to you? You are wet? Do you need any help?” The maid asked politely.
- “I… uhm…” I stuttered, forgetting what it was that I wanted to say to her until it clicked on me.
- “Do you need any help? I can help you, just say what it is that you want,” she said again, taking a step closer to me.
- “I need to clean the room and I don’t know where to get the needed equipment for it. Can you take me there?” I asked, feeling nervous.
- The maid smiled at me. “You don’t have to worry about that. I can clean the room for you. It’s my job,” she said and I shook my head almost immediately.
- She can’t do that. Alpha Dimitri would be furious if he found out that I didn’t clean the room up myself.
- “You don’t have to worry. You are the alpha wife which makes you the Luna of the pack. Any work you want me to get done, I’d get it done, can you go back to the room now?” She said and I shook my head.
- “Just help me with the equipment. I will do it myself,” I stated firmly.
- She looked at me frantically as if trying to read me. “Are you sure?” She asked and I nodded my head.
- “Alright,” she pressed her lips in a thin line.
- “I will go get them for you, In the meantime, you can go back to your room,” she said.
- “Thank you,” I sighed deeply.
- Just as she was about to leave, I stopped her.
- “What is your name?” I asked inquisitively.
- “Ama,” she replied with a smile on her face.
- I smiled back at her before going to the room. She came back with the needed equipment to clean the roll shortly.
- “Thanks so much,” I said to her.
- I didn’t fail to notice how she looked at the wet couch with a creased forehead, something I would do whenever I was curious about something.
- “It’s no problem. I can help you clean off,” she said.
- “You don’t have to Ama, I have to do it myself,” I told her.
- “Alright then. I will let you clean up but can I join you?” She asked.
- I stopped to stare at her. "I said you don’t have to.”
- "Don’t worry, I will just assist. You can clean up while I also help too,” she suggested, still smiling at me.
- There was something about her that I liked. Maybe it was how she smiled at me or how kind she was to me.
- “Alright,” I said before getting to it.
- “What the fuck is going on here?” I felt my heart skip when I heard the voice of Alpha Dimitri.
- “Good day Alpha,” I heard Ama say.
- “What are you doing here?” Alpha Dimitri questioned.
- “I’m cleaning the room Alpha,” she replied, making it hard for me to breathe.
- This was why I didn’t want her here. This was why I asked for her to leave and that I’d do it myself. I knew he might come anytime and I wouldn’t want him to come in here and see her with me, it would make him furious.
- “And who asked you to come in here?” He asked.
- I wanted to speak but I couldn’t find my voice. I don’t dare to speak up. I couldn’t dare to provoke him.
- “I simply came to help Luna, she didn’t ask for my help and refused that I…”
- Alpha Dimitri cuts her off. “What did you just say?”
- “I came to help the Luna…”
- “Shhh!” Alpha Dimitri chided.
- “Luna? And who bestowed that title on her?” He asked.
- “Let this be the first and the last time that you refer to her as the Luna of this pack. Is that understood?” He stated sternly.
- “Yes… yes, Alpha.” She replied.
- “Good. Now leave this room immediately,” he ordered.
- “Yes Alpha,” Ama replied before running out of the room leaving just Alpha Dimitri and me.
- “Ridiculous isn’t it?” Someone like you called Luna?” He scoffed, walking towards me.
- Although I didn’t dare look at him, I couldn’t help but pay attention to the sound of his footsteps.
- “Luna? You have got to be kidding me,” he clicked his tongue.
- “What did I say to you before I left?” He asked and I flinched from the sound of his voice.
- “Speak up!” He snarled.
- “You… you said I should… clean… the room… by… myself,” I stuttered, my voice lower than normal.
- “And what did you do after all I said?” He asked.
- Tears began to stream down my cheek and I honestly hated how I was quick to cry. I hated how he made me so scared.
- “I didn’t tell her to do anything. I told her not to but she insisted,” I said, wiping the tears in my eyes.
- He scoffed in disbelief. “And you are lying through your teeth.”
- I shook my head, denying his accusations. “I didn’t. I swear I didn’t.”
- “Shut up!” He shunned.
- “You didn’t then what was she doing here? Did I not see her? Am I blind? Is that what you are trying to say?”
- I shook my head, my hands were shaking. “I…”
- Before I could speak, he put his hand around my throat, choking me. “You are nothing but a liar! I haven’t said a word even though I feel cheated yet you want to do this?”
- “Tell me why, why did you agree to marry me? Your father is lying isn’t he?” He asked, pushing me against the wall.
- My back hit the wall as he choked me. I was struggling to breathe, tears streaming down my cheek profusely.
- “Look me in the eyes and tell me the truth, where is your sister and what is your father not telling me!” He growled, his eyes boring mine with nothing but pure hatred in them.
- Just as he hated me, I hated him too but I couldn’t act out just as he was acting out and that was the difference.
- “Speak up!” He snarled.
- “I…I don’t know…” I managed to say in tears while struggling to breathe.
- “I am not a forgiving man. I don’t forgive and once I find out the truth about all of this, I will make sure that you don’t only pay for this every one of your family. I will make you all suffer for it.” He said through his teeth, emphasizing his words.
- He finally let me go and I fell to the ground, gasping for air.
