Chapter 1 Getting Married To The Cruel Alpha
- ALLY
- “It is time.” I heard my father say and I lifted my head to look at him.
- My heart sank in the realization that in about some minutes, I’d be married to Alpha Dimitri against my wish and unbeknownst to him.
- “Don’t tell me you are about to cry,” my father whispered through his teeth with a frown on his face.
- His voice, cold and sharp as ever, made me shiver from fear. I bit my inner cheek, an attitude of mine whenever I was trying to hide my fear.
- “Remember that this is not for you but for the village. Your sister failed to realize it and ran away. She’s useless and you cannot be useless so no matter what happened today, put it in the back of your mind. And if you don’t care about the village then think about your mother!” He snarled.
- “You will do as I have told and you will make no mistake, is that understood?” He stated firmly.
- I swallowed the lump that formed in my throat before nodding my head in response.
- “I need words,” my father snapped harshly.
- “Yes sir,” I replied.
- “Good. Now let’s go,” he said and I linked my arms with his as we walked out of the room.
- I was close, close to getting married to Alpha Dimitri and it wasn’t my wish. I am not even the one who is supposed to marry him but my sister ran away last night leaving a letter to tell my parents that she cannot marry Alpha Dimitri and she wants to be with who she loves.
- Lucy, my older sister, is Alpha Dimitri’s mate but she doesn’t love him and she couldn’t reject him because of our parents.
- She couldn’t dare do that because of my father to be precise. He has always been an ambitious man and he loves power. Besides that, Alpha Dimitri has promised to help our small village and help us get involved with the activities of the town.
- My sister has a lover but she couldn’t let my parents know because she knew they’d disapprove and when she discovered Alpha Dimitri to be her mate, she wasn’t happy with it.
- Alpha Dimitri isn’t a good man. He is known to be vicious and ruthless. He has no respect for anyone and treats women like they are nothing but objects and my sister refuses to be married to a man like him.
- Alpha Dimitri on the other hand seems to be fascinated by my sister. It was evident he wanted her and he constantly tried to impress her although he didn’t fail to look down on her at the same time. He was controlling, arrogant, and rude to her. Sometimes he’d threaten her if she made him angry.
- As my sister's best friend, she told me everything and how uncomfortable she was each time she walked with him.
- “He is unbelievable Ally! I cannot be with him. I don’t want to be with him.”
- Those were her words and each time she said them, she’d burst into tears.
- Last night, she ran away creating chaos. My father was furious, he vowed to punish my sister once he found her because she wanted to put them to shame.
- He refused to let the Alpha know that his mate had run away hours before their wedding as the Alpha wouldn’t be pleased and it would cost a lot to me and my people.
- “We cannot let him know she ran away. He won’t be happy about this and he will ruin us,” my father exasperated.
- “What do we do? How could she do this to us? She knows that her marriage to Alpha Dimitri would help us a lot and yet she does this?” My mother voiced out, irritation laced in her tone.
- Just then, my father's eyes met mine and he stood up from where he sat, taking slow steps towards me.
- “You will fit perfectly,” he stated, staring at me with a mischievous expression.
- “What do you mean she'd do?” My mother questioned.
- “Alpha Dimitri can’t find out that his mate ran away or we will all face the consequences of his wrath and the wedding must go on. What I am trying to say is that Ally here will marry Alpha Dimitri in her sister’s place,” My father explained and I gasped in disbelief.
- “But…”
- “She looks just like her sister. They are both of the same height, both beautiful, same brown eyes and hair color. I know one can easily tell them apart but he won’t know until he reveals the veil but by then he’d be married to her already,” my father interjected.
- “Alpha Dimitri would be furious if he found out that he got married to Ally and not Lucy. You know he fancies Lucy and he won’t let it go easily. We can’t fool the Alpha into marrying someone else. He won’t be happy and we don’t want to see his wrath,” my mother disapproved.
- “And you think telling him his mate ran away before the wedding would make it better? He would be angry. He would. It won’t only be considered a humiliation but also a disrespect and you know Alpha Dimitri, he is not a forgiving man,” my father retorted.
- “It’s best if this marriage continues as it would save us for this marriage to be canceled. Ally would marry Alpha Dimitri in her sister’s place and it’s final.”
- “So are we going to tell him his mate ran away?” My mother asked.
- “No. We won’t do that. I have a plan. I know just what we will tell him to make it convincing,” My father replied to my mother.
- And that was how it came to be. I couldn’t speak up against my father because he was never a man who listened to anyone. What he wanted must be done and there was no escape. I turned to my mother for help but she didn’t say anything just like she always does.
- Tears filled my eyes but I couldn’t let them drop. I was not only getting married to Alpha Dimitri but I was also going to deceive him into marrying me.
- I cannot imagine the look on his face once he realizes that he married me and not my sister. The closer my father and I walked toward the podium where Alpha Dimitri and the priest stood, the more my heart raced erratically.
- As soon as I reached the podium, my dad left my side to join the others while I climbed the podium to join Alpha Dimitri.
- I refused to let myself feel any emotion as it would only create more chaos. I wanted to cry. I wanted this day to be over already. I couldn’t even look toward Alpha Dimitri as the fear of him finding out that he wasn’t getting married to his mate scared me.
- “We shall begin the commencement of the ceremony.” The pack priest began and I became deaf to my environment.
- I wasn’t hearing anything anymore and I suddenly found it hard to breathe.
- I was getting married to someone who wasn’t my mate and against my will. This wasn’t how I envisioned my life and it hurts that I have no control over my own life.
- “Ally!” I snapped out of my thoughts when I heard the voice of the priest.
- I blinked my eyes as I looked around to realize that I was getting married and had completely zoned out of reality.
- My eyes met with my father’s cold ones and I shuddered in fear.
- “I will repeat,” the priest said.
- “Do you take Alpha Dimitri Stravakos as your husband and to be his Luna and wife, in sickness and in health, for good times and for bad times, to be faithful and loyal to him until death do you apart?” The priest asked.
- I took in a deep breath and exhaled before opening my mouth to speak. “Yes, I do.”
- “It is done. With the power invested in me by the moon goddess, I now pronounce you, husband and wife. You may kiss the bride.”
- That was it, that was how I agreed to years of lifetime pain and hardship.
- My heart began to race faster than normal as Alpha Dimitri walked towards me. Then, he proceeded to remove the veil covering my face so he could kiss me.
- This was it, the moment of truth, and just like that, he removed the veil and I didn’t fail to notice the shocking expression that formed on his face.
- “What the hell is going on?” He voiced out in clear disbelief.
