Chapter 8 Pregnant?

  • In the next few days, Hansel didn't chase Milicent out of Fulbright Residence, nor did he stop her from coming to the company. He came up with all kinds of ways to torture and torment her while she was by his side. Milicent was worn out after completing various high-intensity tasks for a whole week.
  • Milicent was about to get up and go to Fulbright Group as usual in the morning. Still, she had an uncomfortable headache and felt groggy. She even felt nauseous while brushing her teeth. She held onto the basin to support herself and gagged several times before she could continue.
  • Milicent was baffled. She had been retching quite frequently nowadays. Did I eat something that went bad? My throat feels dry, too. I think I caught the flu. I'll go to the hospital today.
  • Meanwhile, Hansel arrived at his office early and glanced at his watch while working. It's been one hour since work started. Why isn't that woman here yet? Heh. And I was just wondering how determined she would be. Has she finally given up? 'Knock, knock.' Someone knocked at the door. "Come in." Hansel's heart sank inexplicably when he saw who entered his office.
  • "Mr. Hansel, this is this afternoon's schedule, and these are the documents you need to sign." Gary passed Hansel the documents dutifully and continued, "We've also sent people to check hospital records, and we haven't found any suspicious woman in the Gynecology department."
  • "Alright." Hansel waved to signal Gary to leave. Before Gary stepped out of the door, Hansel asked nonchalantly, "Is she absent today?" Gary was momentarily stunned. After realizing who Mr. Hansel was referring to, he instantly replied, "Yes. Ms. Rich is absent. It seems she's finally given up." Hansel nodded and continued working. However, he felt slightly upset deep down in his heart.
  • Meanwhile, Milicent was queuing to take her number in the hospital. She told the doctor how she felt when it was her turn, and the doctor looked at her strangely. "Do you often feel sleepy, nauseous, and urinate more frequently recently?"
  • Milicent nodded fervently. "What's wrong with me, doctor? It doesn't seem like a common flu…" The doctor looked at her helplessly and continued, "When was the last time you had your period?" Milicent tried to recall. "More than one month ago…" She paused. She seemed to have thought of something, and her expression changed gradually.
  • The doctor smiled. "Have you been intimate with anyone recently? You should pay more attention to your health. I won't prescribe you any medicine yet. Why don't you take a new number to check if you're really pregnant?"
  • Milicent left the hospital in a daze. She didn't dare to get checked in the hospital. Instead, she went to the pharmacy to buy a pregnancy test strip. She locked herself in the bathroom after returning to Fulbright Residence. She waited anxiously for a long time after taking the test. When she saw the pregnancy test strip revealing a positive line, she had an awful expression on her already pale face.
  • She looked down at her flat tummy. She didn't dare to believe it. It had happened abruptly, and she had never experienced it before. She had fled home in desperation only to find that she was forced into a marriage. She was so heartbroken that she didn't think much about the incident, so she didn't take any emergency contraception pills.
  • As a result, she was pregnant with that man's child! Milicent covered her mouth in shock. No, I can't lose my head. Maybe the pregnancy test wasn't accurate. I should go to the hospital to check! Milicent immediately cleaned up, threw the strip into the dustbin, got up, and left the bathroom. She looked around while walking out of the bathroom, feeling guilty. She feared that Hansel might suddenly appear.
  • Since Milicent had a cold while pregnant, she felt dizzy. She simply lay in bed and slept the afternoon away. After waking up, she stroked her rumbling tummy and went downstairs to look for food. A few servants passed her on the stairs, and one bumped into her maliciously.
  • "Ah!" Milicent lost her balance and fell on the stairs. "Oh. It's you, Madam. I thought you were just another servant. I'm sorry. Do you need me to help you up?" Despite saying that, the female servant had no intention to help her up.
  • Milicent glanced at the arrogant female servant without saying anything. She got up silently and continued to walk downstairs. However, she didn't expect the servants to make trouble for her and continue harassing her.
  • "Tsk. Do you think you're a bigshot after marrying into the Fulbright family? If Mr. Hansel doesn't like you, you're even more inferior than a servant like us."
  • "That's right. Look at her. She's a country bumpkin. She's unworthy of being Mr. Hansel's wife. I heard Mr. Hansel is ordering her around like his care worker!"
  • "If I were her, I would've packed my things and left instead of making a fool of herself here."
  • "Women like her are shameless! She'd do anything for money!"
  • Milicent's face turned paler upon hearing their nasty insults, and her already weak body wobbled unsteadily. Just as she was about to turn around and speak up, she heard a deep, cold voice. "Since when did the Fulbright family's servants start behaving so rudely?
